I joined another forum and shared some of my spiritual experiences on there. Someone on that forum tried to deny me of my own truth, argued with me, and claimed that everything I was saying was flat out wrong and incorrect. I felt it was quite rude and offensive, what this person was saying and how they were saying it (ie, their tone), and I am really triggered by it.

This was my spiritual experience I was describing, which translates to mean MY experience. Who's to say I am WRONG for what I've experienced? That's like telling someone they're wrong for how they feel about something.

And even if it doesn't match someone else's experience or knowledge, why do people need to argue and antagonize?

I refused to argue with her and placed her on ignore instead. I also reported her post for trying to antagonize and argue with me.

I can't help but feel very triggered. It reminds me of my father telling me every emotion I ever felt was WRONG.

Try to remember this is someone on the internet that you haven't met (not likely) and it's very easy to get feeling hurt when someone says our truth isn't our truth. I'll just say it. It's happening to me. It's taking me a while to get over it now. I don't know how to help except remember everyone has their own opinion and people are always ready to judge, it's human nature. I feel hurt too of that helps at all. HUGS

Thank you. I feel less alone with how I am feeling. People really are quick to judge, especially on the internet, and I think often times, people say things they wouldn't normally express IRL. I feel like it''s an excuse and reason to be rude and offensive to people and to let off steam. People take out their issues and anger on others all the time. I think I will get off the internet altogether.

Don't ever let a human tell you what your spirituality should be.

Speaking about my own spirituality has always been best done with people of like minds. Online forums so often end up a space for debate rather than support, and my own spirituality isn't up for debate.

Even in online forums specifically designed for my spiritual group, people troll to create debate simply, I guess, as an odd hobby.

Seek out a forum of like-minded spiritual support, and just perhaps realize that forum was not that place. If a "live" group of like-minded people can be found, even the better, so that relationships can be built and not intruded on by those that seek to create discord.

Thanks - I appreciate your supportive comments.

This other forum is akin to PC in that it is a forum for like-minded community support. It's a spiritual forum, specifically designed for spiritual types. It is not religious, but it is spiritual.

I guess there's going to be people who troll all types of sites just to stir up conflict. I don't think any online forum is immune. I've tried MANY different mental health forums, for example, and I've found so many of these types who literally come on just to stir up trouble, debate and create arguments. PC is one of the best I have found out there for mental health.

And this spiritual site? Well, it's very early still, but that one member apparently antagonizes lots of people, I've heard from another member.

I feel I found a good place for myself in terms of my spiritual beliefs and leanings, so I wish to stay and participate. This one person got under my skin though.

Wow, that's crazy to be questioned on a spiritually minded site. There are dogmatic people everywhere I guess. Sorry you got shut down like that. Sucks your dad would do that to you as well with your feelings.

I get the vibe that people on this forum aren't super happy about talking about spiritual things but I don't mind. I think body mind and spirit are all connected.

I think it is foolish to ignore a spiritual realm. Even if you start with simple vibrations and keep your mind open you can move up into harmonizing with nature, etc. There are no limits!

Thanks, Guy.

She wasn't dogmatic, per se, but she strongly felt she was right and I was wrong and wanted to endlessly argue the point on my thread. Then she called me arrogant because I stood my ground. She was really obnoxious.

And I agree that body, mind and spirit are all connected.

I don't have knowledge of the other forum. On PC it is occasionally pointed out to people that their spiritual beliefs might be an aspect of their mental illness. I believe that can be useful information.

I'm sorry that you get very upset when people don't answer your posts right away. Perhaps it might be helpful for you to take a day away from social media. Just a thought...there have been times when I had to take a short break.

Thank you .

I admit that I have been less patient lately due to needing more support, and yes, I have taken breaks from all social media at times. I have not been in the best frame of mind and have been dealing with depression recently, therefore, feeling the need for greater support. When people don't post and when a full day goes by with on one responding, I feel like no one cares, so it's more a feeling of rejection that I experience.

As for how people on PC respond to spirituality, yes, I have found that to be the case. That is why I sought a spiritual forum to discuss my spiritual experiences, rather than continue to post about them on here. Most people I encounter have thought it's a mental health issue, when for me, it isn't at all.
