I was first introduced to the Law of Attraction through the movie The Secret. Later I received training as a Spiritual Life Coach which gave me more insights. That was in 2010. Since then I have done a great deal of reading, including watching talks on YouTube.

Abraham Hicks is a favorite of mine. I love the teachings. I like Joe Dispensa as well. Do you like the teachings of the Law of Attraction? And if so, who is your favorite guru? What is your favorite book? I'm enjoying The Vortex by Esther Hicks.

John Kehoe wrote Mind Power. Excellant book on the mind goes much deeper than the secret. I'm also into manifesting techniques.

Thanks for sharing. I hadn't heard of that one. I'll have to check it out.

I definitely prefer the Abraham books. The Secret seemed quite shallow and mostly focused on getting rich, and not so much on how it can affect you negatively (and what to do about that).

It is the LOA that made me start thinking positively, choosing happiness, trying to find things to be grateful for etc. And I feel so much better than I did. And now I can easily handle the bad stuff that comes up.

Yes. But either I read it wrong or I hated the Abraham Hicks books. I turned it off 1/2 way through it. I enjoyed the Secret more.

I came to start looking into it because I have always felt on some level that there was something there in the universe. I can site so many examples of my seemingly influencing my world.

However, I feel like the Secret helped me big time because in order to us the LOA it is like a cognitive behavior exercise to change your mindset. That has been helpful. In fact I argue some of the good things that happen to people are due to this change.

I wish there was more out there to really help but so far I haven't found a lot of great books.

I also enjoyed "think and grow rich" by Wallace Wattles. He talks about being "rich" in terms of abundance not necessarily money.

Yea, Loa is good in that it helps you focus on the positives and encourages you to be grateful. Feeling good is important, so it's always best to reach for a better feeling. I have found many great books on Loa on Amazon. Rhonda Byrne, the author of the Secret, has several inspiring books. I enjoy the way she writes. James Goi Jr. is an author I found recently that I really like. I like his writing style too. I also enjoy listening to affirmations. I've found several that are based on the Law of Attraction. I found them on YouTube and Audible. I like the positive thinking ones and the prosperity ones.

I also got into the LOA due to Audible. I did the free trial and found out that you can return as many books as you want but they stay downloaded on your phone so I got like 10 books out of it.

Weirdly the biggest thing that has changed in me with the LOA is understanding people and not believing they are out to get me. I always try to bring good nature to a situation but before it if was rejected I would fume. But now I just feel like my good nature is bringing me to a higher state no matter what so, it really doesn't matter how it is received but putting it out there is a good thing for me.

That isn't to say that I let people run all over me as I still sometimes have to be firm and rude but, i am far more inclined to give love to humans than before.

On of the things the LOA has been teaching me is to *recognize* when things are happening for a reason.

1. my co worker who I don't really like and didn't want to be friends with, seems to be doing what she can to get rid of me. For a moment that stung but I realized, omg, it is the LOA. I have been unrelentingly positive lately and the Loa is moving me away from her.

2. At the same time, I happened to have a great review Friday where they asked me to train people on something. My normal reaction was to be wanting not to, but then I thought this is the LOA pulling me away from the negative downers in my life and pulling me toward success. Why not share what I know with other people? Why not make my bosses life easier.

That's good news about your review. I hope things continue to go well for you with your job. Yea, it's important to have a positive mental attitude. I recently read something that helped me. It basically said, "Make your request known, trust the Universe to do the work and make yourself Happy." But that doesn't mean we do nothing. When inspired action is necessary, we definitely need to do that.

I am not sure how things work but I do find it helpful not to react when something happens.

Then I ask, what benefit does this event or person offer to me. Despite appearances, there is often an up side to everything similar to what Emily is saying.

I'm currently watching Lisa A Romano on YouTube about law attractions. I used the law attractions mediation.

I am however a little disappointed in LOA books. I have been devouring them and a lot that get good reviews are imho terrible. What I look for in a book on the LOA is
1. New and interesting facts about how others throughout history have either used the LOA or could have been using it without their knowledge.
and
2. Facts about science / history that point to it.
What I don't like and am getting sick of
1. constant repeating of the same things *use gratitude* and
2. Lots of information which has zero back up put the author just says.

I feel like after the secret a lot of copycats jumped on the bandwagon. If I had time to do this I think I might want to publish my own book. In it I would do actual research on it going back in history and talking to scientists.

On another board someone pointed out to me that you should consider LOA like an art that you practice. That once you have the basics you should do it your own way. I kind of agree. But I wish one author would take a deep drive into this issue and not just write a book that anyone can.

I did end up finding a pretty good book. It was by "Craig Beck" and it is called "Laws of Attraction". Though Beck seems to be quite a confidence man / Tony Robbins type... his book was none the less good. It wasn't specifically on the LOA but it seemed to tie in two subjects that for me... the universe of LOA... can't exist without... love and the ego.

Basically, he kind of says that you have to go back before the "secret" and understand where the whole thing is coming from. We are all part of the same universe / material. A similar example might be like water. You can take water out of the ocean and put it in a cup but it is still water and eventually the water will return to the ocean. Water might take different forms / ice / clouds / but it is all the same thing. In a similar way the universe and everything within it is the same. So that jerk at work, part of the same thing. Every human, everything thing is the same. When you look at that jerk at work that you hate -- as you - it is hard not to feel more love or compassion. He even mentioned an idea that really captured me, but what if the entire universe is just like one cell in the body of a greater creature? You think that is nuts but if you went back in time to the 800 AD time and told them what we know today... wouldn't that seem nuts? So you now see how pointless it is to be angry at another person or want to hurt something else...it is all you. By hurting another person, you hurt you. With regard to the LOA the "vibrational frequency" of the substance is love because of course, it is going to love itself. I mean you don't want to hurt your kidney? In the same way, the energy / frequency / thinking stuff doesn't want to hurt you or anything that is part of it. If you do... you will not be on the same frequency. But the more you act in conformance with love of everything... the easier your ability to get in line with the universe. He provides a lot of examples from religion(s) all talking about treating others as you would want them to treat you. Every religion talks about the golden rule and talks about the importance being good to everything.

So why then do humans turn away from this. After all, ever seen a kid? They are much more like this than adults. Well, he talks about the ego. If you haven't read the "power of now" --you should. But the power of now talks about the ego. The ego is something within all of us that is destructive. No basically insane. The ego has all the bad ideas and it responsible for making humans feel alone, sad, upset. Beck says that the ego's biggest fear is death. Because the ego is a uniquely human thing. I personally feel that the ego is something that is formed in every human to protect them. After all, a human wouldn't live too long if they had zero self preservation aspect to it (like children have very low or very undeveloped ego) and must be protected by adults. But the ego must be kept in check. So how does this play into the LOA? You must be sure that your use of the LOA is not being motivated by the ego. If your requests to the universe are things that are your ego talking -- a sports car that is unnecessary, - harm to another, - winning the lottery you won't be on the universal wavelength and they won't happen. You must also keep the ego in check to even start using the LOA.

Other good ideas that he talked about that other authors don't.

1. every request you make is heard, but you must understand that sometimes the answer will be no. How many times have you wanted something but in the end you realize it wasn't right for you. Ask, believe, receive / accept. Personally I have had many things that I thought I wanted but in the end... I didn't get them and they were the right thing for me in the end.

2. Why are we in human form at all? Because as energy etc.. we can't experience things. We can't grow, we can't create... but in a different form we can. Everything in the universe is the expression of the energy in this form.

3. Death essentially has to be a change from one form to another. Like when you pour the water back into the ocean from the cup. So you shouldn't be that afraid of it. For me this kind of went into the idea of "only the good die young"... because maybe the closer you are in human form to getting it right... the less you need to be here to grow or to suffer or to learn or to contribute ideas. Weirdly this morning on my facebook "memories" was a meme talking about how maybe dogs don't have a long lifetime because they are so close to love / joy and perfection naturally.

I am reading another book now called "Transurfing of Reality" it is trippy. Basically it is written by a Russian Quantum Physicist. It is like the LOA but different. He says that every single possibility exists right now. So when you act in conformance with what you want, you basically call that existing (but hidden) reality to you. There is no "manifesting" because every potential already exists. There is an Emily Fox Seaton who is wealthy thin and happy. But the Emily Fox Seaton I am has pushed that reality away by choosing life directions to be poor fat and miserable.

He also says that one place people get into trouble is wanting something too much. This is why LOA people tell you to want something and let it go. He says obsessing over something can lead to negative counters within you... secret resentment it isn't happening etc. If you find something taking up too much energy in your life make sure it doesn't by remembering you are happy and fine with or without it...and it will come faster.

He also talks about these things he calls pendulums. Basically he says that went people get together and think alike there is a momentum to that.. a powerful one. That can trap people in other's thoughts and emotions. As long as people are unaware of them they can be captured in this strong emotion / thought structure. One reason some people prefer to go to a sports game rather than watch the game at home. I kind of agree on this as I have never been captured by popular thinking on anything because I am very observant and a bit of a contrarian. But most people i know are slaves to whatever a lot of other people think.
