So last year when I first got the book "the secret" I did all her exercises -- one of which is writing down what you want for all aspects of my life. I mean it is wise... I don't think I have ever really thought about *what I want* -- usually my thinking is... *what I can get*.

So I just was going through this yesterday and I found some of what I wanted for my job:
- more time off.
- more time during the day for myself.
- more indépendance.
- more leave time.

In the section on home life I have
- more home cooked meals
- lose weight.
- A cleaner home.
- More attention to my cat's needs.

Though of course there were some things that haven't come true... I have to say.. all of this stuff has mostly come true due to the corona virus. From a purely objective point of view it is pretty stunning.

And... I was driving and I saw a gym having exercise classes outside in the parking lot. I thought how amazingly sunny it has been here where I live, and though hot, there hasn't been a lot of rain.

You have to think how weird that, at the exact time we need people to be able to be outside... the weather cooperates.

Resturants are having people eating outside in the parking lot... and even the lack of water will assist in not making the mosquito situation dangerous. (with EEE).

Yes, it's interesting because along the lines of what you're saying - and I'm open to different ideas - I've heard it said, purely from a spiritual or mother nature point of view, that the pandemic is like the earths immunity system attacking and bringing into line the organism causing sickness to itself, the organism bringing sickness to the earth - which is us. Because let's face it, humans collectively are having a very negative impact on the earths biosphere, a negative impact on the earth itself, we're killing the earth. And the earth is our own home!

So, as you pointed out, and others have stated similar things; the pandemic indirectly - or perhaps deliberately(!) - could be having a positive effect on a lot of people and also on the rest of nature, for sure. Nature might very well be trying to bring us into line, to make us more harmonious with the earth. Of course the loss of human life is very tragic, but on the whole, it might be for the best in the long term. I do like that idea.

That was not what I was saying. I was saying that the consciousness of humanity is controlling the weather. Humans need nice weather and it appears. In direct response to our needs. The universe is a friendly one to us and we are not some sort of illness to it. We, or consciousness in general, can shape the universe we live in.

One of the reasons I think the "pandemic" hasn't been effected too is about 50% of the people don't really believe it is serious and thus the collective consciousness isn't focused on it.

One of the tenants of LOA is that the universes reshapes itself in response to the collective consciousness. When you look back in history imho you can see evidence of this. For the most part whenever we have an environmental challenge it ends up getting solved. For instance in the 1980s there was the hole in the ozone layer. Well that closed itself right up. In the 1970s there was the gas crisis, but somehow we found other sources and now gas is plentiful. It does really seem like the universe will provide what the collective consciousness needs.

@Emily Fox Seaton

Yes, very interesting. You're right, I was talking about something a bit different than the LOA, yes. I was talking about the consciousness of the planet, of mother earth, as being the cause for the pandemic and not the collective consciousness of we humans.

I agree the universe ultimately is a friendly one, yes, but human activity isn't always friendly to the planet. That's where nature must take matters into it's own hands. It might well treat us as hostile if our activities are hostile, which they are: hostile to the earth and to the animals, nature, and even to each other in many many instances - very hostile. We are being taught a valuable lesson, perhaps - which is actually coming from a place of love.

Here's something else Emily. In perhaps an LOA kind of way (I admit though, I've obviously not read up on the LOA). In response to a real wish for change, in response to many many prayers for something to happen: the anti-racism protests and riots the world is witnessing currently, particularly in the US, might be an LOA effect where people of all colors and backgrounds have come together with great energy and anger and really cried out to their leaders for change. Not only that but symbolically dismantled (by toppling statues) the racist foundations of societies everywhere. Could that be an LOA? A response to the collective consciousness of a great chunk of people, black, white, brown, everywhere? I think it could be Emily.

Basically it says that the universe itself is just matter arranged in the way consciousness has influenced it to. That humanity, trees, animals are all reflections of thought or vibrations and influence the matter. It sounds super trippy but I came to the LOA not by wanting to believe in it but noticing myself the weird things that seemed to occur.

There is sort of a bigger concern that what happens on this planet but you can use this information to make life on this planet more pleasant by acting in conformance with. Like attracts like.

If you want kindness, be kind. If you want abundance, act with abundance. If you want others to be grateful to you... be grateful. Believe in humanity. Believe that the universe will provide for you... and it will.

Violence and riots do nothing but attract hate and violence and come from a mindset of scarcity. Like attracts like. And such mind sets just attract more hate violence and scarcity.

But as I go around each day I often will notice something that I think gets my attention as further evidence of it... and I was noticing how lucky it was that during this time we needed the weather to be good, it was. Is that really "luck" or can we say maybe the universe provides for it somehow?

@Emily Fox Seaton

Yes, I think we can say the universe definitely provides for it somehow, and so just going by what you've described above, combined with what I understand as well, I think the LOA contains some truth - and if it can work for the weather, it can work for other things too. I mean reality is obviously far far greater than what most people can even be bothered to think about really. Anyway, thanks for the LOA overview Emily.

I have to disagree about the protests coming from a 'scarcity', though - a 'like attracting like'. Because I'm not talking about the rioting only, I'm talking about all those people out there, globally, willing to make a sacrifice for a great cause, putting their lives on the line for freedom from oppression, for equality etc., - that's not scarcity - that's sending a strong message, and it's a message, a view, widely shared. But I think politically, you might not be aligned with such views, and that's okay - I'll get the LOA to fix that for you.

Well frankly I am not sure why we are talking about anything political in this thread at all other than it seems some people have been using it to talk about what they want to talk about. Rather than trying to contribute to the discussion of the law of attraction in a forum for spirituality.

But I am using every ounce of my good mojo not to make a bigger deal out of that fact.

I don't think this is off topic. The answer is "like attracts like". So if you fight against something, you are only creating more of that. "What you resist persists." If you consider Mother Theresa, one of the most loving and supportive figures in the world, she only attended "peace rallies". Whatever you are in favor of, support that. Focus on the positive. Just wanted to chime in. Sorry Emily Fox Seaton left. That's sad.

@Deilla

So, with this logic (above) you're saying if a person fights against racism, they only create more racism. Sorry my friend, I disagree. The racism is being put into the world by people who are already racists not by people with inclusive spirits.

And besides, in the greater good, in the greater scheme of things, the fight isn't really against anything, it's for something. Something good. It's very positive. This is why I say what's happening is overall the symptom of a collective bringing into reality. It's an inevitable outcome of the human heart and conscience.🙏

I don't really know much about politics. I've never been involved with any of it. All I know is that if I focus on the good things in my life, the more good I have. And if my self-talk is all about my problems, then the more problems I have. If I'm focused on what I don't want, it's difficult to stop a behavior or change it. However, if the focus turns to something positive, like an end result, then feelings improve and solutions come. Like I said, I don't know about politics. I have my life, my cats' lives, my friends and my dreams to think of. I'm not perfect. But personally, when I focus on solutions and positive outcomes, I am happier. Everyone is different. Everyone has their own ideas. I like LOA. It helps me.

I want to share a really nice LOA story. I really believe cause of what happened to me. Last year I woke up one morning and I had a strong desire for another cat. That drove me to look online for cats to adopt. I found some in a big city near by. I called my mom to see if she would go with me. She asked a strange question. She wanted to know if I had an extra cat carrier. I told her I didn't and asked why she needed one. She told me they found a cat abandoned on the side of the rode. I was like, this is so weird. It's like a dream come true. I said I'll take her if you done want her. My mom said yea, that's a good idea. My mom was going to take her to the shelter. Well within an hour, I was at my mom's house picking up the new cat. So my wish came true in a matter of hours in the most peculiar way. I was deeply moved by the gift the Universe had provided.

I love your focus, @Deilla, on your life, your cat's lives, and dreams. I was thinking, @mote.of.soul, that no two protests or protesters have the exact same intention. LoA would say that those who focus on freedom, and dream of the world where they're free to be, will attract that freedom, and those who focus on oppression will attract that. I agree it could smack of victim blaming, but also in terms of confirmation bias it makes sense that believing in freedom, and seeing opportunities for freedom of expression will allow those opportunities to be taken up, whilst believing strongly in the power of the oppressor will make those opportunities less visible. I also like the saying "if you ask god for patience you get a line at the bank"...maybe some situations can be perceived as either obstacles or opportunities...not to undermine anyone's struggles. I know I've been way too focused on injustice at times, and that can be consuming, but there's always hope for more justice, and just shifting that focus can help achieve more justice I'm sure...I hope!

@anonymous45521 that storm sounds really frightening It's so cool that you kept it at a distance

The good news is storms do not happen often and if they did it wouldnt affect you most of the time. I remember when England had earthquakes in the area i lived in, it happened in the night, i didnt feel a thing, i went outside and trees were knocked down/.
