Hi, I'm new here. I am on disability. I first got sick in 2004. I refused to be on disability. I got sick again in 2006. Refused again. Then sick again in 2009. So I applied for ssdi and got it the first time i tried because of my hospitalizations and symptoms. I got on it in 2009. I tried to work part time but couldnt cut it. So finally I just get ssdi and dont work at all. It's a godsend for me. I still get symptoms and my Dr is playing around with my meds right now. I get stressed thinking about working. I've been fired basically for every single job I had.

Sorry to hear it. I found meds that work for me. I appear normal minus restlessness. I'm on Ssd and work part time. Interviewing for full time. I do get fired, i have been promoted than cracked. Also approved first time requested ss because of symptoms. But meds really work for me thank God.

I'm pretty lucky as the meds keep me just stable enough to be able to work.

I am working 20 hours a week and have much stress. I have sza also. I have never been on disability but have been out of work for periods at a time. I want to be able to maintain working at 20 hours a week. It has not been easy though. I am doing ok but my job is not stable and pays by the hour. I like my job though. I wanted to receive SSDI but my shrink refused to help me get it. So, I decided to work and so far it is ok. I think I am ok but the stress is hard to deal with at times. I try to sleep on my breaks and whenever possible. I like being productive but don't like the stress. I am managing somehow. I like my job and get paid for it. It is not a great job but it pays the bills. I hope to increase my hours a little more to 25 hours a week but so far 20 hours has been a major chore for me. So, I will see if it is possible to increase or not my hours per week.

I'm working right now and it's tough. I pulled a no call no show on Friday, I can guess why, I haven't worked in a month and I haven't been feeling well emotionally, but I don't truly know, because I made it Saturday. I don't always have energy. I work too fast sometimes and not fast enough other times. I did okay with a reliable schedule and easy work. The only trouble with that job was it was a work study job that doesn't exist outside academia. I'd have to continue to take harder and harder classes, until I got a master's degree to keep that one. Part of why I qualified for disability was how crappy I was doing at a work study job and now I seem to be struggling at a retail job, so that confirms it. I feel bad having them employ me, but I wanted to try one last time and I didn't have disability yet when I got the job. It really saved me, I wouldn't have an apartment or know wonderful people without them.
