I am really sad because people don't like me and don't want me around. But at the same time I understand their behaviour is due to me social withdrawal.

My doctor thinks I am squizoid. So here is my question: do you feel sad when you are rejected? Like when nobody envites you to something and everybody else is invented, like not being picked by anyone in group formation (at school).

I wonder wether squizoid people care about what others think about them.

mulan, I appreciate your inquiry. I hope someone else chimes in that knows more about schizoid personality disorder but in the meantime here are some links to symptoms and treatments for it.

I'm not schizoid but I'm personality disordered none the less, and I'm not bothered when someone rejects me. I just move on.

I know a bit about schizoid PD and I know that full-blown schizoids are totally indifferent to not only rejection, but acceptance as well.

I'm not schizoid but I am hurt when rejected (usually). Sometimes though I look back and wonder what I ever saw in that person . I wonder why I didn't see through them from the start It's their loss! maybe this is something to work towards

I'm not schizoid. But yes, I definitely feel hurt when I am rejected. I do have BPD so probably has something to do with that...

There's more than just one way of being schizoid. One symptom is that people with SPD can to be indifferent to praise and criticism. I would tend to think that rejection would fall under criticism. They are different but have a similar root issue.
It sounds like you have a desire to be with other people but have some struggles revolving around that which results in social isolation. Typically, people with SPD will go out of their way to avoid socialization. They don't want it. The rejection would more likely be a relief. From my limited understanding, anyway.
Is your doctor a psychiatrist? I'm guessing so since he knows what SPD even is lol. Talk to him about your concerns and see what he says. He'll have his reasons for his thoughts and will know your situation and symptoms as well as what the disorder is much better.

I am trying to get over it by trying to mingle with people through social media. It's one way of attempting to lift my loner mentality. If only people would ever appreciate why I am trying to be friends with them, that may alleviate my schizoid personality. However, if I am rejected again, that may confirm my own beliefs that I am a schizoid - or that I have some semblance of a schizoid personality..

I am generally indifferent when it comes to whether people like me or not but i am still human, i still feel hurt when i am rejected, even if i didn't want to be around people, its still better to be asked and turn down the chance than just be left out.
