Hi I was directed over hear from the Avoidant Personality Disorder group. Apparently I am Schizoid.

I am 46 and it seems like it is happening more and more. At work, I dislike just about everyone there. They have in some way screwed me and will again. They aren't my friends. So I stay in my office all day trying to avoid them.

At home, not much better. I moved to a new place in part hoping for new opportunities and I joined the condo board. But the board members were rude imho and used me. Never wanting friendship. And now, they don't even talk to me. That is factual... not in my head.

Every day it just seems like every human I meet is either out to get me or out to use me or, just are unpleasant and weird.

I spent all day at work in my office, most weekends at home and I have less desire to be around anyone. They offer me nothing.

Hello Emily Fox Seaton: The Skeezyks was at one time the president of his townhome association.

P.S. I've never received an official diagnosis from any of the various mental health professionals I've seen over the years. So I don't know what my diagnosis would be. As a result, I pretty-much feel free to post wherever I feel the urge.

Almost everyone seems to have a bad experience but I don't really understand why. I never disagreed with them, I did the work, and for my efforts they don't talk to me and get their minions to also act like I am weird.

Basically I feel like I am schizoid because other people suck. I mean is it possible that they all are insane and nuts and I don't have a personality disorder?

Ok I had to give it a shot.

If you feel you have schizoid personality disorder, you should go see a professional. Especially considering that if you have schizoid personality disorder, you have a personality disorder but no desire to see professional help. When you feel that you ought to go but are hesitant, surely you should go.

That said though, a personality disorder is a personality disorder. The schizoid/avoidant/narcissistic/borderline/paranoid are just personality traits one may or may not have, regardless of mental health. Only when they dominate your personality and disrupt your life, it is a personality disorder.

My experience is different, I guess. At some point all my social interactions were either with you parents or with random people on the internet, often in video games or some discussion board (and that usually results in arguing/insulting).

Then I discovered true people, on the surface, are actually nice and engaging. But not more than that. I cannot distinguish politeness from displayng interest and me shutting it down, (maybe).

Nope. Don't believe in professional help. Frankly I don't even believe I have a personality disorder. However, at this moment in the world.. people who are most like me in particular traits are considered to have this personality disorder. But truth... I don't believe it is a personality disorder. I think it could be a little bit of a few things / introversion / calmness/// professionalism. In fact it is pretty rare for me to ever go to a Schizoid board and find people that are 100% what the experts say they should be.

But I am here because at this moment in time this is closest to be where I am at right now.

I do think it is disrupting my life but, again, because the vast majority of people are not this way. Or if they are, they "fight it" feeling there is something wrong with them. Not sure if it will stay the same. Often I find if I visit a schizoid board things die quickly and I think it is that people do "get better" depending on things changing in the environment.
