Ready Player One looks fantastic. The second trailer just came out and it looks perfect. I read the book. It has a lot of 80's nostalgia in it, but it's futuristic sci fi, Matrix meets Stranger things.

hot spicy take from two nights ago inbound..............................guardians of the galaxy 2 was really bad. maybe my expectations were too high or maybe my sense of humor has been bungled in some way that makes poop and sex jokes not nearly as funny anymore but i just wasn't feeling it.
rogue one was a good palate cleanser though. i'll take vader's dad puns over touching a poop any day. i wanna see the shape of water so badly, everyone living in a major-major us city is my enemy and the focus of my envy for the next ten days. __________________ |

I watched Seven Pounds, and The Kite Runner last night and enjoyed them. Both, coincidentally, about guilt and redemption.

idk if this counts but my dad and i started watching this docuseries on netflix about the american food industry and all its little corrupt bits called rotten. its pretty interesting and covers a lot of topics i wasn't expecting, like the first episode was about Bees of all things, but it answered a lot of questions i didnt know i had. kinda preaching to the choir a bit since ive been an on and off vegan since high school and read a ton about the worst practices of animal ag but it gets into more of the science behind the industries instead of just ethics and statistics.

Watched Assassin's Creed today. I know nothing about the computer games, but I really enjoyed the film. I enjoyed the Templar Knights history angle; the ethical dilemma of curing violence by violating free will; and the idea that memories can reside in our DNA.
I also watch Split. Full disclosure: I went into it expecting not to like it because it's yet another film about DID and violence. I only watched it because I thought that I shouldn't judge something until I'd seen it for myself, but I wasn't going to pay to see it in the cinema, so I waited until it came on TV. I can't say that I changed my mind about how stigmatising it is. But I thought that James McAvoy did a great job of portraying for many different personalities, and I liked that the therapist provided quite a bit of psychoeducation about DID throughout the film, so maybe people would learn something about DID. But my main concern is still that the main thing that people will take away from it is that they should be scared that anyone with DID could have an evil and violent personality lurking under the surface *face palm* *Willow* |

i was really pleasantly surprised at how well split portrayed did too willow. maybe people with did feel differently about it. people are always gonna be ashholes about stigmatized illnesses but even with kevin being a "villain" i empathized with him so much, and james mcavoy just killed it pulling off all the different personalities. never thought i would say this but i can't wait for the next installment in the extended shyama-verse.

it's old, but good lifesize... I used to watch it a lot as a child, and I just recently found a copy of it on dvd. about this girl who brings her doll to life and tries to teach her how to be human (sounds childish, but it's really cute) I also suggest paddington, the fault in our stars, girl interupted, now is good, rocky balboa, the new beauty and the beast, 9/11, big daddy, and tuns more |

My sister is finally returning my copy of "The Boy" this weekend. It's a horror movie that came out a couple years ago that I bought and she borrowed it then lost it so I'm happy about that and will probably watch it soon.
The next movies I'm gonna be watching are "IT" (the new version) and "The Glass Castle" the glass castle castle is from a book about this girls life (autobiography) it's a true story. I don't know how to describe it really other than amazing, I highly recommend reading it and I'm excited to see the movie. At some point I'll be watching the Lord of the Rings because I'm almost finished reading part three. __________________ R.I.P mom 8/6/55-1/15/16 “All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of a single candle.” -St. Francis of Assisi
