I took 100mg Seroquel last night. I should have taken 50mg because the 150mg Invega Sustenna injection kicked in this morning. I took a 50mg Vyvanse this morning, went back to sleep and my god I was knocked out, woke up an hour later but had to get up cuz I'm doing things today.

What helps you personally or what can help you with the sedation? I always like my racing thoughts at the end of the injection - Cool, interesting thoughts. But I get stressed which isn't good for the brain as it can lead to psychosis. So I need antipsychotic.

I'm going for a walk this morning. So what helps me is;

- Light exercise (A little bit because it's hard to motivate self while sedated)
- Stimulation (People to talk to that don't judge your zombie state, caffeine, stimulants like ADHD medication - Rarely people with psychosis can take stimulants but I can which doesn't really help on day 1 of injection)
- Watching TV (I know... Vegetating watching TV... At least we can absorb some sort of information..)
- Keeping busy (Having a job or part time job - Likely this isn't good for volunteering because we have to be social which is hard while sedated)
- Sleep (Would suck to be on a high dose of antipsychotic every day because that's basically what we do.. Sleep.. It's a literal nightmare)
- Music and podcasts (Even though we can't really feel emotions in sound - Like TV, it's absorbing a slight amount of information)
- Idk what else. Leave in comments below what else you have in mind...

Thanks for this topic! Yeah I've been sluggish since I went on Zyprexa last summer. I haven't been doing things that got me off the couch, like cooking, gardening, and tending to my bird and squirrel feeders. I thought it was depression but now I see it's the meds because I'm a couch potato now even when I'm in a good mood which I often am. The main thing I've been doing lately is reading.

Drinking green tea helps me wake up and the caffeine in green tea doesn't get you hyped up like coffee does. They recommend green tea to help with anxiety disorders and depression. It sure helps me. But it's best to drink whole leaf tea and not the tea bag kind which is a lower grade of tea. Matcha is good, too.

Maybe getting back to my yoga will help. I'll try some walks.

I really hate all this sitting I've been doing even if reading is good for me.

I'm tired and unmotivated a lot since starting thorazine and abilify. I feel lazy but it's really hard to get up and do things cause I feel so worn out. I push myself through it though, as best as I can.

Things that help me:
Coffee, coffee and more coffee
Music (listening helps me get cleaning done)
Reading, helps inspire me
Allowing myself to take a nap if needed
Taking a lot of walks, trying to be active during the day, standing up walking around even it's just around the apartment instead of laying down all day.
-Playing musical instruments makes me feel energized and inspired
Listening to podcasts while walking around
Going out with friends

Honestly I never figured it out.....I started feeling better on fish oil or idk if I would have motivation at all.....it’s really hard when things are more difficult than you expect them to be all the time. It’s like have you ever climbed a sand dune? One step forward but slide two steps back.....you can still make it to the top but it’s just so much work and you’re not sure it’s going to be worth seeing the view at the top anyway.

You all motivated me to get off the couch and sweep my deck which hasn't been swept in over a month which then got me motivated to take my shower and get dressed. I definitely feel more clear headed now after getting up and moving around.

Thanks for the thread, Desoxyn. On my prior regimen, I had no issues with this. But since adding Thorazine and Depakote, even though I still really can't sleep, it has left me sort of dazed and really fatigued physically. Here's what I am trying to do:

Getting my butt up and moving and doing my routine, regardless.

Riding my bike almost every day for at least 2 hours. Never want to do it, always feel better once I am out there.

Sipping green tea makes me feel better.

Finding a show I like makes me feel better.

Reading a good book does, as well.

Making myself cook or bake something nice.

In short, the key for me seems to be action when I don't want to do any action. We'll see if I can keep it up.

I feel 100x better after having a walk with my mom and her friends. They said I'm doing extremely well and I feel well. I think it's because of the 1.5g phenibut (I'm tolerant to 1g). It's a nootropic and acts like a stimulant in the day and a sedative when I'm in REM sleep (It's a GABA-B agonist like GHB - Brand name "Xyrem" for narcolepsy). When I don't take it, my mood makes a 180 degree turn and I even lose my sense of humour.. My whole personality.. Especially at the start of the injection.. But today is the best I've ever felt while at the start of the injection...

The walk and socialization helped. When I got home, I scraped the ice off of the sidewalks which was another workout and made me breathe heavily. Then I had a shower and did general hygiene. I had a cold shower too to wake me up.

The only thing I don't have is extroverted intuition where I think about the future. I'm just thinking about the moment right now.

Phenibut is a good antidepressant for me but can be addictive so I wouldn't recommend for anyone else.

I'm gonna make another coffee (I had one at the place I walked to) but I feel ok. The 100mg Seroquel and Invega Sustenna injection actually makes me feel better + the Vyvanse kicked in more (It peaks at 3 hours).

I'm ok I just miss the crazy thoughts.

Thanks for the insight everyone! One day they will make antipsychotics that even 'normal' people will want to take to improve their cognition.

That's the best example of a description of antipsychotics that I've ever heard..

So I did some yoga this morning and I definitely feel better. My mind is still a bit groggy but my body is all woken up. I'll see if I can do some every morning from now on. I've jumped into the "healthy lifestyles" thread to give me some accountability here.
