Hello... I'm having issues w/ex bf... He thinks I implanted a device in his head to drive him crazy. He hears ppl talking that no one else can hear. I've heard him privately blame all of his friends & family of the same.. Now hes convinced that it was me. He showed up at my house again this morning, tore screen off my window, tried to push open the window and come thru it... Tried to grab me thru the 5" it was open... I had a stick in it so he couldn't open it any further. He did this 1 other time... July 7th. He refuses to even consider the possibility that I haven't done anything to him... Let alone accept the fact that I haven't. Idk what he was thinking this time... Last time he was demanding remote control for devise in his head... Threatened my life if o didn't get it to him.... The big issue with calling police is that I know if I was e to report this & tell them his name and where he lives... It would make him even more angry and worse... The police can't protect me & my family from him.... So please lmk if anyone has any ideas on how to deal with this...

Try and communicate with one of his family members, a parent perhaps, and let them know what is going on. Maybe they can convince him to see a doctor.
Call and talk with a mental health professional in your area and see if they have a suggestion.
It sounds like he is caught up in a paranoid delusion and needs to get stabilized on medication. If he does try and break into your house again and you do call the police make sure you tell them that.

Unfortunately you’re not going to be able to talk him out of this....he needs help, the police will be able to get him help if he’s bad enough off, if not then talk to his family....they should be getting him help.

I have talked to his family... I sent his mom a text as soon as he left my house ( all 3 X its been now)... He took her phone from her, text me from it pretending to be her denying he had left the house at all that morning. He's functioning... He has a job out of state. He drives back & forth every few weeks. He's due to be back any day now. I quit talking to his mom after the last time. His family is fully aware of what he's done. I called their house after the last time he showed up... He kept yelling at me over the phone that he's going to put a bullet in my head. His family heard all that. I seriously don't know what to do. I'm not going to call the police, I do know that. It probably sounds stupid but the only thing I can think of is to go outside & try to talk to him if he shows up here... I should probably say "when" he shows up again bcuz I'm sure that he will. This is causing major problems for me with my family... This has to stop. Idk how long it will take him to realize/accept the reality of the situation or what other horrible things he will do between now & then... It just seems like there's no good answer or solution to this whole thing... I've thought about leaving my home but if im not here to deal with him when he shows up, that means my family would have to deal with him... That's not OK either.

You won’t be able to talk him out. This comes from people who experience delusion and hallucination like he does. He needs a professional help. If you want this to stop then get him the professional help he badly needs. There are medications that doctors can prescribe to treat the delusion and hallucination.

He will never realize it and it is possible he could hurt you if you don’t call the police.....he needs medication....

Depending on where you live, you could petition the court for a mental health treatment order. Where i live, this does not mean he would be locked up anywhere a long time, although he would be brought to hospital by police initially. He would there be helped to gain stability on medication, and discharged with a plan for outpatient supports. The treatment order would be reviewed, and extended or not depending on how he's doing. The order cannot be for longer than one year without review, and supports the least restrictive setting. (Such as outpatient services in the community)
You could see if something similar is available where you live.

Hello seattle: I'm sorry you are facing this most disturbing situation. I noticed this is your first post here on PC. So... welcome to PsychCentral. I hope you find PC to be of benefit.

Unfortunately, I don't have any better advice to offer you than has already been given. I don't know if you're familiar with the National Domestic Violence Hotline. I realize this is an ex bf not a spouse. But there might still be some suggestions the Hotline could offer. Here's a link to their website along with their telephone hotline number:

Home | The National Domestic Violence Hotline

1 (800) 799-7233

And then here are links to some articles, from PsychCentral's archives, on the subject of how to deal with someone who is delusional. Perhaps there will be some suggestions in these articles that will be of help particularly should you in fact decide to try to go outside & talk to your ex bf:

Part 1: Getting Through To Delusional Beliefs

Part 2: Getting Through to Delusional Beliefs

10 Things You Should Know About Delusions

8 Ways To Cope With Someone Who Has Delusions

https://blogs.psychcentral.com/careg...hout-fighting/

Tamara Hill, who wrote the articles I've linked you to above, has a YouTube channel. Here are links to 4 videos she uploaded on the subject of delusions & hallucinations. I should mention I haven't watched these videos. So I can't say anything about them one way or another. But, hopefully, they may be an additional resource:

https://youtu.be/oaQM4ZBx8Ts

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ynn2aPrqKJA

(If you watch Tamara's videos, also look down the column of thumbnails down the right-hand side of the screen. You may see other videos that might be of interest.)

My best wishes to you...

I don't think it's a good idea to go outside and talk to him. He could be dangerous. If he shows up again, I think you should call the police.

I think you need to call the police next time he shows up. Tell them what is going on. Just because he's functioning in other parts of his life does not mean he can't get help from the police services. Think about getting a restraining order too.
