A lot of times I thought I'm misdiagnosed because I am able to behave and feel normally, never hallucinate, hearing voices or have delusions that defy the law of nature.
My only gripe that has to do with schizophrenia is suspicions, paranoia, anxiety and uncontrolled anger.
All can be traced back to numerous bad past experiences that changed my thinking habits and the way I perceive things.

That’s the kicker with mental illness. It’s the only illness who’s primary symptoms are convincing you you don’t have anything wrong going on.

I wonder tbh. Id like to figure it out once and for all but I fell like to do thag would be dangerous. But I really do wonder if I really am that sick. I function a lot better than people with schizophrenic spectrum disorders are supposed to so I just wonder if it might just be something else

I'm not homeless and ranting at people on the streets but i'm also living at home and not working and collecting SSI... Not because i want to but because i keep going into hospitals all the time to even be able to work. I really don't think i'm sick tho.

I'm pretty sure I'm misdiagnosed right now. For the longest time I was diagnosed bipolar 1 and they just changed it during/after my last hospitalization

I had a psychologist who diagnosed me with schizophrenia without ever consulting my psychiatrist. I was raised by schizophrenics and suffered a lot of trauma because of it. Somehow my psychologist's diagnosis got into my electronic medical record and every time I had a unrelated physician's appointment the first thing they did was ask me about my schizophrenia. It was so traumatizing I stopped going to physicians all together. I was so afraid my psychologist was right, ie. I was the people who raised me, I was terrified to ask my psychiatrist. I carried the diagnosis around for a long time, silent about it. Finally, I got the courage to ask my psychiatrist. He was stunned and pretty angry this had been done to me. He reassured me I had bipolar 1 disorder with psychosis and PTSD with psychosis but I was definitely not schizophrenic. He tried to clean up my electronic records so I wasn't traumatized going to see physicians, but every once and a while I get a new Dr. who asks and treats me like I am.

Moral of the story...be careful who's diagnosing you and always ask for confirmation from a psychiatrist. MDs are the only people with the knowledge base to distinguish psychotic disorders from each other.
