I have been having multiple catatonic episodes lately, one last night where I couldnt even draw in a breath for a few moments and my heart rate was really high. Currently on a waiting list to be seen by a psychiatrist. How do I know when I need to go to the hospital?

Hi jilliskill.
Even though you are on a waiting list to be seen by a psychiatrist, it's probably a good idea to either present at your local hospital or seek advice from your local doctor should you be feeling distressed or in pain right now. I have been an active member of this site for 4 years. In that time I have received some really constructive feedback and connected with several others with similar challenges to myself. I have also found hanging out in the Games Forums to be a welcome distraction in times of stress... a great way to clear my head, meet like minded others, and have some well needed fun. Sounds like a panic attack or you could have had a panic attack because of catatonia

Catatonia is a severe episode of schizophrenia. The only way you would know if you were in a catatonic state is if your psychiatrist told you about it. You really can't diagnose it yourself.

i was hospitalized for catatonia in the early 80s for 6 months i a state run facility. I don't remember much other than there was a big window to look out and comfortable chairs to sit in. My dad says he visited every weekend but i never spoke or looked at him. I have tried to get that time back but its a loss.
Today i have periods of catatonia when i am well i think its when i am stressed, i will be somewhere other than where i remember being . Catatonia is sz on downers. feel free to contact me about how you are doing. thanks , tams __________________ Tams https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Whgn_iE5uc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FOUqQt3Kg0 YOU LAUGH BECAUSE I AM DIFFERENT, I LAUGH BECAUSE YOU ARE ALL THE SAME Don't only practice your Art, But force your way through into its secrets, For it and Knowledge can Raise men to the Divine.
