I’m very anxious. I have a doctors appointment in the morning with a new psychiatrist. It’s need a few years now since I’ve seen a doctor. The first time I went to a doctor without being on medication or anything, I was forced into a hospital. I’m worried it’ll happen again.

Generally most psychiatrists deal with meds..there are a few who do therapy but they are expensive. If you aren’t taking meds why see a psychiatrist.?

Most Pdocs are no longer affiliated with hospitals so are not inclined to hospitize people. So unless you tell them that you are a danger to yourself or others they are most likely to listen and then whip out their prescription pad to write scripts for meds.

I hope your appointment goes well. It's always difficult seeing someone new. But hopefully it will be a helpful appointment. Are you looking to get on meds?
