All my voices started out on the outside. I first thought I must be hearing a radio, maybe from a neighbor with their window open. But it finally became clear to me the voices were actually coming from the inside. So many adjustments I have been forced to make since then, in order to accept them & keep my sanity. So, it is what it is. A small percentage of us, apparently, get voices. I think most brains are capable of creating extra minds, using the DNA, or whatever, but they usually don't choose that option, for whatever reason. I hope you decide to keep this discussion going. I feel so alone sometimes.

I always heard voices growing up. My family assumed it was just an overactive imagination like some people have when they're young. However by the time I was 16 the voices were really bad. By really bad I mean non stop and hostile. Hostile as in the voices would threaten me saying they were gonna get me or kill me or that everyone else was out to get me by ways of poisoning me. I usually hear voices right beside me and can feel the sound penetrate into my ears. When the voices were really bad I would hear them coming from other rooms. The voices would sound demonic or I would hear my family's voices talking with the demonic ones. Most of the time now they are mumbled whispers that are incoherent but if I get really stressed I can hear them talk some. I just deal with it and it's not easy. I used to take antipsychotics but stopped years ago and consider getting back on them. I don't know if it is severe enough to get back on them like how they initially were. Feels better to just share my experience and come to terms with the fact it is a part of our lives and we'll just have to overcome them. They're not for the faint of heart and we can show them who's in charge.

This post concerns a voice mixed in with a delusion. I was awakened last night by a loud alarm going off in my living room. A voice commingled with the alarm saying Jane...alarm...Jane...alarm and so on. Along with it was a loud ringing in my left ear. The entire episode lasted about 5 minutes. All the while I knew it was a delusion but it had me fearing the ringing wasn't going to go away. I have never had such a loud delusion.

I get where you’re coming from. The loudness is deafening even when coming from inside your own head. Glad you know it was an illusion otherwise it would be a delusion. Only way to remind myself that mine are fake are to keep on the forums with you great people. All helping each other out.

I've gotten some pretty strange and scary visual and audio hallucinations. I think it's the spirits playing mind games on me.

I didn't know this thread was still operating. Maybe I dissociated. I'm sorry. Thank you for keeping it going. My "voices" have been more of a problem lately. And, as you yourself know, I can't get away from them, no Greyhound bus can take me to a safe hiding place. So I keep learning how to build new strengths in myself. Maybe your voices sometimes discourage you from reading & posting. I have that problem. There's no way to explain what it's like to someone who has never experienced it. So most of us keep it to ourselves, right? Anyway, thank you very much for sharing!! It helps me a lot, & probably others.

Hey, Kit, look--I have been through this before A lot. And one time, I acted on mine. Almost died. Any way you could call your pdoc and maybe make a med move or something? Just concerned for you here.

I never tell anyone who isn't one of us because they always freak out and just think I am even more of a psycho killer or whatever.

Could I ask if anyone has come across the explanation of Electronic Harassment, and what Subvocalization is!

Would you have group mobbing or group gaslighting campaigns against you?

Hi, @ShaneG! Welcome to PC! Of those things you mentioned, the only thing I'm a little bit familiar with is the term subvocalization. I've read articles that say some psychologists believe that the voice hearer is actually doing the voice themself, "subvocally." I think they mean the person is talking to himself/herself so low they don't know they are doing it. This might make sense if the person was only hearing one voice. I, personally, have multiple voices all at once, & various sounds & it gets really noisy at times. I've read that most voice hearers have multiple voices. I hope other posters can answer regarding those other terms. And thank you for this post!

I've had this issue a number of times, pretty much only when I'm extremely depressed, exhausted or stressed. I don't know if it's really hearing voices, because they aren't talking to me and they're voices of people I know. It's like listening to conversations happening in my head - overhearing conversations between people I know (or just a person I know, talking), and I can't turn the volume down or make it stop. It has usually gone away after coming out of that depression/distressed state of mind. I've mentioned it to my doctor but never talked about it a lot. A long time ago I was addicted to benzos and sleeping pills and used to get a similar effect. Do other people here get this kind of voice thing?

Thank you for posting & sharing, @nikon. My voices don't sound like other people I know. They seem to have their own separate minds, all with consistantly distinct personalities & sounds to their voices. I can identify with what you're describing when I'm dreaming. Could it be that your brain is causing you to dream while you're awake during difficult times?

Hi, Nikon & Breaking Dawn

Yeap, I know exactly what you mean, I have the same meaning it's multiple voices at one time including female and words I don't use myself, so yes how would that even be possible for your own inner speech to achieve, some do sound like people I've known in my past.
I see it as a type of broadcasting or live streaming or EMF podcast, though I do not know it's real and think it's a delusion which makes them laugh and use bait and switch cruelty on me. or games.

Would this resonate with any of you
