I viewed a thread from RE: Matters to Consider when Reducing or Coming off Meds: it said "Potential adverse effects upon withdrawal of atypical neuroleptic."
"The development of psychotic symptoms when there is excess dopamine transmission (as may occur in abrupt withdrawal) may lead some individuals to believe that increased dopamine signaling may have been responsible for the psychotic experiences an individual initially had when the drugs were first prescribed. However, individuals who had no psychiatric history have been given a course of neuroleptic treatment, and when the neuroleptics were abruptly withdrawn some of these individuals developed 'psychotic symptoms'."

This suggests that the drugs can perpetuate the mental illness long after an
acute episode that required meds for a temporary use, has occurred.

Dear Copewell789,

Thank you for sharing that.

Do you know the original source of that quotation? If it is part of an article I would be very interested in reading the entire article. Do you think it is from a medical research paper?

If it is based on a study it would very interesting to me to know what kind of study was involved, the scope, duration, quality and so on of the study. If you know of found this additional information, would be be willing to share it here because I am very interested?

Thanks again. You are very kind share this quotation and I appreciate it very much!

Sincerely yours, -- Yao Wen

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
