Since many of us here on the Schizophrenia & Psychosis forum struggle with motivation I thought maybe we should have a thread where we post motivation tips, things we’re trying to get motivation to do, and encouragement for each other.

I’ll start. I’m struggling with motivation to clean and leaving the house. I only go the same places over and over , I never go further than certain areas. I need to break out of that somehow but am not sure how because any kind of change even little, scares me.

I am struggling with motivation to do work. Like real work, not school. I didn't login once to work this week. I don't know if they'll fire me for that. Probably not, but it just makes me wonder if I even deserve the job, etc. I can get stuck in a major rabbit hole about it. I need the job because it helps me get autonomy from my parents.

I don’t know how your job works but can you make a goal of logging in maybe say in the mornings when you have your coffee, to try to make it a part of your routine? So it become habitual, you make coffee or whatever you do in the morning then automatically log in.

I could... Last week I was thinking about how to incorporate it more into my schedule. I think I need to set an alarm on my phone to log in at certain times of the day. That would help, I think. Thanks for the suggestion.

So I read atomic habits and it was great but I never implemented it at all....but I do recommend it if you have any motivation left.

I am not motivated at all times. I also can't focus at all times. Resting and sleeping help tremendously in this regard. I take a nap or sleep then wake up refreshed and do my work. I have so much prep work to do for my classes and sleeping/ resting is the only way I can do my work. I am motivated to do my work in general because I need to pay my bills.

It's really weird because I tend to be much more emotionally expressive after my psychedelic trips yet I still struggle with motivation - Even with doing the things that I like.

My mom makes me do 3 things every day (Wash the dishes, clean the cat litter box and take out the garbage). I wake up knowing that I have to do those things. It's hard and I hate doing them and sometimes procrastinate but mostly I do it.

I wake up, chew nicotine gum, make coffee (To wake me up a little) and then do hygiene - Brush my teeth, etc..

After the previous Invega injection, I managed to vacuum and organize my closet because I was calmer. I often vacuum my room and organize it.

I was raised by a narcissist that would keep me busy all day every day and now I think to myself - I never had any time for myself.. To build an identity.. I was always doing chores.. Constant chores - Day in and day out.. Nothing else except going to school (Avoidant from potential friends) and working as a mechanic and welder (They didn't let me learn because I was too young - So I was doing meaningless chores there as well) - I had enough. I broke down and went psychotic from stress.. I suppose you need a life or you won't be stable at any job.

I'm getting much better over the years though. I've had severe negative symptoms since I was ~12 years old.

I struggle with amotivation a lot, but almost always when my dperssion is spun up. It is a huge problem, as I cannot get anything done in this state. I just sit around and do nothing all day.

They have that book available as an audiobook from Hoopla through my library, I should listen to it!

I've got to get motivated for tomorrow. Grocery trip, and a separate trip to the dollar store to get some stuff I need. And cleaning the bathroom, taking lots of trash out, hopefully I can get it all done, I keep putting stuff off. Oh yeah, and do laundry

I’m struggling with cleaning the house. I picked up trash in one room. Now I gotta do the dishes, sweep, and take out the trash in the kitchen and I just don’t want to. At all. I seem to have a bit of motivation to write but not clean.

Have you tried setting a reward for yourself like I can spend two hours on the oculus if I just clean X?

Well I've gotten none of this done. I woke up super late and my motivation is like zero now that it's hot out I don't feel like doing anything or going anywhere
