I am right now 30 years old and was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia in 27.

Anyway while checking some old notes from 2006 i read about some paranoid ideas i was writing in my note book.

So i was sure that my paranoia was way before the diagnosis.

The problem is that i was still having the ability to study with that illness even though untreated.

Do you think i should restart a healthier carreer ?

While I certainly can't prove it I would suspect most of us, here on PC, were struggling with our various mental illnesses well before we actually received anything in the way of a diagnosis. It's unclear to me, from what you wrote, whether or not you're currently in treatment. If not, perhaps now is the time to get started? And if you are currently in treatment, perhaps talking with the mental health professionals in your life about career options would be the appropriate way to approach the subject? I certainly don't think I would be in a position to advise you.

Hey, PP. Welcome!!!

My first mental health diagnosis was major depression at age 33. Became manic and psychotic at 41 and picked up a bipolar 1 diagnosis. I am now 56 and my illness has become more and more classically schizophrenia-like. We are not sure what to call it.

Reviewing school records and talking with persons around me as a little one, it is now crystal clear that I had early childhood-onset bipolar-schizophrenia illness of a sweeping kind.

So, your story is not at all uncommon around here.

Hang in there! You are not alone. Love and hugs!

Thanks for the support.

Now that am 30 and got diagnosed with schizophrenia at 26 had my first active signs at 24 , and got diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia at 27.

My prodromal phase was a bit tricky it was intermittent type .

But i was really surprised when i read those paranoid notes i was 16 back then . So the ilness was older than i tought.

What would a healthier career look like for you? I mean, if you think it'll be healthier for you, go for it!
I was diagnosed around 20 (don't really remember) and I can trace my first delusions/hallucinations back to when I was 5 but that could've just been a childs active imagination. First time they interfered with my life I was around 15.

The problem is i was living and studying with this illness without diagnosis.

I mean waht could be my study choices if i was healthy back then.

Last thing i did before my diagnosis was electronics and software engeneering.

Am confused wether i should just stick with what i did now that am healthier after the diagnosis or explore myself into other fields ?
