I never had any mental health issues in the past. Then suddenly several months ago I started to get anxiety attacks. I thought it'd ease up, but it didn't. I went to get professional help and they couldn't find anything other than stress. I tried several things like exercise, eating healthier, spending time in nature, etc. to try and reduce stress. I did notice some improvemwnt, but I still didn't feel myself. Then I started hearing voices and getting images like dreams that wake me up at night and cause anxiety. I went for a mental health assesment and was told it was stress again. My concern is this has been going on for awhile. I can't think of any triggers and I don't use any substances. I'm thinking about getting a second opinion. I'm not sure if this is how mental illnesses start or not.

Sounds like psychosis to me, are you seeing a psychiatrist and did you tell them about the voices? My bipolar started with stress induced psychosis.....

I went for a mental health assesement at a Psychatric Center and they didn't do anything. They said voices around sleep are normal. I'm still not feeling myself though. I should get a second opinion.

If it’s only around sleep it could be hypnagogic or hypnopompic hallucinations which are considered normal.....
