Hello all.

I was diagnosed SZ back in 2003 and had a really hard time with it for a while. Finally I got on Risperdal and my symptoms have all but vanished. I look forward to sharing my experiences with everyone.

i still hear the good words and the bad words and planning to help me and family. i hear them all the time , every second .it never ends. the voices are helpful most of the time but when another comes in, don't listen.been there.. TRUETH. learn to meditate. go to bed or sit down somewhere and calm your minds. just ,,try to bring all talking together. it is hard(for me tonight especially) but let the voice that YOU know will hurt you go away or let that voice go unto an object the dispose of it in a ceremony.(i did my 8th voice) tonight for me REALY bad . i do not want to hurt anyone so as i try to help you, i help myself. i will media .gn and may my bad dreams not haunt you.

Dear Budweiser,

I had problems with hearing voices in the past and I found that the best way to get rid of them is to just completely ignore them!! Don't do what they tell you to do!! If you don't acknowledge them at all, they diminish greatly, at least mine did. Don't believe anything they say either!! I found that in my case, the voices were my own thoughts and were usually expressions of my own fears or insecurities. When I chose to ignore them and not acknowledge them anymore, I wasn't re-inforcing that kind of annoying mode of functioning my mind had started taking on due to my schizophreniform disorder, and the voices just stopped. Also, I have found reading to really help because when my mind focuses on a subject completely unrelated to my own thoughts, it makes me more mentally well. Talking with others and socializing also helps my mind stay well. Hope your voices stop soon!! (And know that they really can!)

Hi Garfield,

Your post interested me because I had similar thoughts last year whilst suffering from severe audio, visual and tactile hallucinations (as theyre called in the shrink's book). It got me wondering if we are actually in a half dream-like state. How many people actually dream of people talking to them in their sleep? Lots I bet. I even wondered if the abusive people that were talking to me were talking to me whilst in their sleep. How bizarre is that. But when you think about it, its quite feasible isnt it?

My Psyquiatrist is giving me for my Schizophrenia diagnosis lots of medication, in this past month he has giving me to take Risperdal 2mg,Zyprexa 10mg,Haldol 5mg,Pamelor 75mg,Ambien 10mg,Benadryl 50mg,Lexapro 20mg,Prosom 2mg,Amantadine 100mg,Dalmane 30mg,Klonopin 2 mg and Ativan 2mg for my condition and I have had a lot of severe side effects from taking them, sometimes I am afraid when I take them because I have problems with my intestines and I think it may be a reasult from taking too much Risperdal and Dalmane.

i was hoping to find some people to talk to about my psychosis... I have problems with being scared of people except close family and close friends (just my boyfriend). I want to be able to talk to people in my situation. I'd really like that.

Hi, I'm new here and so glad to have found this forum. My adult son ,27, has young adult onset schizophrenia. I am coping with this by myself as I am divorced from his father who is not in the picture. My son is going through a rough episode ( hearing voices & hallucinations). I wish there were something I could do to help him. Any tips on how to would be appreciated.

Hi-I am really sorry cause I am in almost the exact same situation that you appear to be going thru!I too am a new member here and this is my first attempt to respond! so hopefully all goes well and I don't wind up wiping both of our crys for help off of here!! My daughter is 23 years old and only 6 days ago was my first encounter with (what I know to be a svere mental health disorder-but which one she will be professionally dignosed(sp) with I don't exactly know)!!!However no one that I am aware of in our family knew about her disorder-she I guess kept it a pretty big secret and seemed to manage it well!!That is until the other day when she could no longer keep it under the hat and after hours upon hours of chasing her around my neighborhood trying to see what & who she was seeing (that wasnt there)one of the neighbors called the police who took her to auburn hospital!! They coincidentally released her before I arrived and after what seemed like an eternity I found her way out in north east tacoma still opening peoples car doors, walking into strangers houses, and even climbing trees looking for(?)I have never witnessed this behavior befor and I Love My Daughter!!!I hurts to be helpless and that is exactly how I feel!I also suffer from Bi Polar syndrome and my depression is off the charts!!! She is currently bouncing from couch to couch she doesnt have a safe place to live and has never seen a Dr.about the voices that she hears!! Beleive me -I know where your coming from with your son (hopefully we both can get some good advise -ANY advise as to what and how to get them some help!Thank you for being here tonight -It feels a little more comforting to know there are others that are out here (altho I am sorry to hear that your son is suffering too-god bless you both and good luck!

Is talking to oneself a sign of good mental health or lunacy? I have heard it both ways. I suppose if you are dialoging in a way that puts you in opposition or genuine disagreement with the other voice, that would be an indicator of a problem. I talk to my yellow lab all day long and could not live a day without sharing my thoughts out loud (some may keep them silent but still the same concept) but it helps me get rid of a lot of junk as well as enjoy the high points. If I start believing he is somehow disagreeing with me when I talk, I may have an issue. Then again, if I did have a voice who was telling me things I did not want to hear I would assume it was some nasty ghost that followed me home and I would tell it to "go to the light". I guess I just don't take well to anyone telling me what to do, even if it is in my own head. Stand strong! There is really only one true voice and that is yours. Just a theory of mine

Here's how I ended up here...
I got married to my husband 2 years ago, and felt like the luckiest woman in the world.
He is a wonderful man and I love him so! When we met, he tells me about hearing voices and feeling a though someone else is inside of him. I really didn't give him a chance to talk much. I laughed and waved it off. He also tells me horrid tales about his parents (who live in the same city as us and are really sweet to us). He complains about co workers hating him and our neighbors conniving to harm us. I thought it was absurd!
He quit his job about 6 months ago and has been fighting everyone, accusing people of things they know nothing about. He slept at the police station overnight once. Due to his behavior, we argue all the time. Lately, he falsely accuses me of having an affair with all our neighbors (who he doesn't get along with). His parents have both asked me if I think he is okay. He feels people are out to get him/harm him all the time.
After talking to his mum-my mother inlaw, she mentioned he has gone through several mental tests in the U.K and was diagnosed with psychosis. He denies this and gets very aggressive when I talk about seeing a doctor. I'm at my loose ends with what to do as I am starting to fall into acute depression too. He smokes and won't give it up. My family spoke to him about his behavior a few months ago and he promised to change. Now he curses at them all the time. I need help. How can I get him to see a doctor? He is getting progressively worse!
Also, how can I get him to trust me again? I'm hoping someone who's been there can answer my last question and if possible tell me what it's like, so I can better manage living with him. I love him and not want to leave, but his constant embarrassments, lies, and abusing me to neighbors is starting to kill me.

Hi, you're not alone. A couple of years go i went through something similar to your situation. He has since been to jail and back. Not being educated and able to cope with the illness at the time i divorced him. He recently gotten out of jail and we wanted to try and work thiigs ut because we figured 22 years is a lot to give up on. I would let him stay a couple of days and he would stay at his sister. The problem come when he think a coupl of guards and Android inmated associated with gangs followed him home on a bus to spy on him. He thinks these people are paying his sister to.put a speaker chip as he call it in her mouth to tell them evrry were he goes and what he is doing. He thinks these people is telling people bad things about him so he can't find a job or even have friends. He feels they are follwing him around but don' show their face. He thinks that i have allowed these people tp place hidden cameras in my house to spy on him. We have gotten into arguments and i have gotten stress over this. I tried to explain to him whats going on with him but he thinks theses people is making me believe that by lying to me. He gets so angry because he thinks i'm listening to him. The sad part is his family is so consumed wiyh drugs and alcohol tyey refuse to get him help. Instead they kicked him out on the streets. He can't stay with me because my lease does not allow me to have anyone other than me and my child. I'm constantly worried about him, but before the divorce he accused me just like your husband ding to you. Its hard to live witu someone like that. Best thing to do is read as much as you can about it. Call your local mental clinic for help on how to deal wih his situation. If he is fighting people and is a threat, you can have him admitted to the emergency room for evaluation or even the police. You to find out what the laws say concerning this matter. My advise hat ibgotten from a friend who has a family member is this, this can become very stressful and you can only do so much because he is Android adult, don't loose yourself in this and remeber to take care of "you",especially f you have chilren. Hope this help and keep in touch with me, i have not yiven up yet.

I was wondering if someone here could help me out. I've been trying to research on something that happened to a cousin of mine, of which i was the only witness, but I don't have the slightest idea as to what could have been. Everything points out to him having a psychotic break that lasted probably five minutes, but I can't truly tell, since I am no expert. We were talking about everyday stuff, and I said something (of which I can't remember) that triggered the episode, and all of a sudden the color in his face drained completely and it was replaced by a kind of greenish hue. All of a sudden, he became very aggressive, saying incoherent stuff, such as that I had no idea what he was capable of (he was threatening me). I was freaking out, I repeatedly kept saying to him to calm down, but it was as if he was somewhere else, he was probably hallucinating (I think) it wasn't until he grabbed his phone, kept saying something about "something being IN the phone" that he was able to come back to reality, and once again I could physically see how his blood returned to his face once again. I let it pass, I thought it was something related to his lack of sleep, since he only sleeps about fours hours a day, but it has kept nagging me this whole time. I just want to know what it could have been, since what I have read, psychosis could really aggravate if not treated.
