Hi,

I'm having some trouble making friends at school? I know it sounds ridiculous but, before I would be very talkative and my teachers would always get onto me for saying "Quit talking" or "You've been talking so much today" and I would get hurt or offended by those small comments.

Ever since high school, I've been very quiet, and very shy -- that making friends has become hard. In middle school, and elementary I was very outgoing, and had friends, now I feel like it's hard to make them.

How should I make more friends? It's second semester of school already. And most people kind of already have their own flock/group of friends already. :/

Also, at school I'm very insecure about myself. I feel like my teachers and peers define me by my grades. I always do bad on tests, and I feel like I instantly let down my teachers, or that I come off as someone who never tries. And I feel really bad about that. When I talk to teachers I get intimidated and stutter a little because I feel they're judging me off of that.

Does anyone have any advice for this?

(Sorry that this was long).

I see you have 23 posts to your credit, here on PC, as I write this. And I don't know what has or hasn't been discussed in those posts. But one thing that occurred to me as I read this post is whether or not you've ever been evaluated for ADHD? If not, that might be something to consider. Here's a link to the ADHD quiz here on PC:

ADHD Test - 3 Minute Test for ADHD/ADD. Instant results.

And then here are links to 8 articles from PC's archives. The first 2 are on the subject of shyness / social anxiety & how to be less self-conscious. The remaining 6 discuss making friends. They are, unfortunately, written more from the perspective of adults who are looking to find friends. But hopefully some of the tips they offer can be of help to you too:

P.S. Your post wasn't that long...

Yeah, thanks for pointing that out to me. I mean, yeah -- I do have a lot of posts, I am new, so I am trying to be a little more active/involved if that makes any sense? I also do write what I do feel like are, genuine, thought-out posts -- so they're not just "random" words I write for the sake of it haha. My posts are a mix of responding to other posts, as well as personally thanking people (if I have time) because I genuinely, really appreciate most of the help/feedback I get on here. My apologies if I came off as someone who "writes too many posts". Hope that doesn't sound too cocky.

But, thanks for the links I'll look into them!
