Hey everyone,
I am deciding whether to continue with graduate school. I currently don't want to continue for various reasons: it's far away, it's remote, I feel distanced from the program, the university is disorganized, I don't see a clear future in the profession that I would practice if I were to graduate from said program, I've already tried to quit twice, I always talk about quitting, I've had numerous problems in trying to receive a grade from last year that I should have received without any problem, it's a pain, I am not sure I love the subject, I have told multiple people that I am not into the subject that much, I joined on a whim, I only joined it because I had nothing better to do, I don't feel satisfied from finishing any of the subjects that I have finished successfully.... The thing is, I'm scared to actually quit. I am leaning towards quitting after writing this post though. |

Hi, WastingAsparagus! I just wanted to remind you of that old saying, "do something you love & you'll never work a day in your life." Good luck with everything!

My advice: Listen to yourself, WastingAsparagus.
If you need to, write a pros and cons list. Are there reasons you're afraid to leave? |

If continuing with school does not help you with your job prospects, then I would consider quitting. However, if the degree makes you more marketable, then you should continue and try to finish.
I thought about going to school again too. However, I don't feel up to it and don't want to incur a debt. I think going to school is not easy for someone with an illness like mine. I am also old. I already have two degrees. I am not earning money in the fields I studied though. Thus, I think academics and job experience are sometimes not related. I think job experience is more important than education sometimes. But, I'm just a teacher and really don't know. I like my current job and am hoping to do well. I also hope the company promotes me if I'm good. But, I'm old so don't expect too much. |

Thanks people. I've decided to stick with it for now, but it still is a challenge. Yeah, school is not easy for me, either. I know it has always been challenging for me because I have always thought about quitting school. I even thought about quitting undergrad many times. I don't know, it's just a pattern for me. Not a good one, either. I wish I could just power through it.
