I understand! I have a niece who become upset if I buy something because I have so much stuff. But it is a great idea to donate.

still haven't taken any of the bags away. The Dr changed up my thyroid meds so I'm hoping that will help with the awake and alert problem. I hate feeling this tired and blaah.

I completely understand! The heat is what drains my energy because of how hot it been. Even with the storms and rain.

My husband and I have been working on decluttering for about the past two months. I wouldn't say our house is at the level of a hoarder's, but there is definitely clutter we need to get rid of. We should be buying a new house in the next few months, so this will give us less to move.

Most weekends we focus on one area to not get overwhelmed. We don't have time during the week usually. We just had a five-day weekend for our national holidays, which gave us some time to really advance. My husband finally recognized that he has a bunch of papers accumulated from classes he took years ago, which he wasn't going to look at again. He got rid of three huge binders of them, which was good progress for him. He definitely can have a tough time throwing things out.

The bedroom closet is this weekend's goal.

We went through clothes over the weekend and got rid of some. My husband had a hard time with his sweaters for some reason and kept a few that I have never seen him wear. Still, we managed to fill a medium-sized garbage bag of things. I set it up next to the dumpster yesterday and it was gone this morning. People generally will take clothes you leave out like that and sell it at flea markets and such.

I still need to address the mess of shoes on the closet floor next. I'm thinking of buying a shoe organizer. I also think there are some things that need to be gone through on the upper shelf.

For a long time I had trouble donating clothes and now because of where I live they are making it harder to donate clothes. I try to think about it th a way if I can help out one homeless person who need clothes than I giving something out to the world that good.

Thanks Buffy! I definitely know it's not easy. For me getting started was the worst part. I kept procrastinating.

I ordered a shoe organizer and it arrived yesterday. I cleaned out all the bottom of the closet, threw out an old comforter and old shoes, etc., swept it all out and then put the shoes in place. It looks so much better!

A family member passed away a few months ago and I had to clean out his hoard. Some of what I found was pretty incredible. I have taken truckloads to the dump, recycling center, charities, given away a lot - and still wound up with a room full of stuff in my house. At first it was packed in so tightly I couldn't even get in. I have made a lot of progress and now mostly just have boxes lining the walls, but it feels slow. I had a hard time throwing out his socks the other day.

Anyway, since having to deal with all of his stuff, I have been more likely to throw out my own stuff. I read that the Swedish Death Cleaning method tells you to ask yourself 'does this object have meaning to anyone but me?' I have found that helpful as I sort through things.

My sister is a hoarder and she is worse than me. Everything has meaning to me which make it harder for me.

I did some work on the kitchen last weekend, clearing out some old dishes and containers we no longer use. I still need to face the closets.

I hear you! I went through my dresser and found shirt that I can't wear and had only worn once. So I put them into two bags one is keepsake and the other is donation. It was very difficult to do. My next door neighbor is a hoarder and he worst than me and is bad as one of my sister.

When I get a new bed frame it going to be hard to get rid of

It looks like we are going to have to step up our efforts. We are probably going to be moving in 3-4 months if our plants work out, and we don't want to move a bunch of stuff we never use.
