That was brilliant, and I only got half way through, (finish the rest later). Now to practice it !!?
I'll see. Very inspiring, I'd like to work on achieving. River. __________________ "Strong passions are the precious raw materials of sanctity" Fulton Sheen |

"What I must do is all that concerns me, not what the people think. This rule, equally arduous in actual and in intellectual life, may serve for the whole distinction between greatness and meanness. It is the harder, because you will always find those who think they know what is your duty better than you know it. It is easy in the world to live after the world's opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after our own; but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude."

Hi!
Just finished reading the essay. Really liked the part where your face hurts when you don't say what you really feel! I think it's so true that we generally tend to bend to the whims of those we think are 'more OK' than us and forget our own worth... and then be clueless about how other people can be great achievers while we can only be great strivers! However, I'm a firm believer in 'assertiveness' skills and can't bring myself to agree that one should go around being rude and scare people off. I think it's sufficient to be honest rather than brutally honest. |

Yeah for the part of being non-conformist!!! I definately am a non-conformist, but I get a tad weary, always battling the 'cry of the voices...' in the other direction......that's a great idea, to read and re-read until you find the strength to be you, no matter how different YOU are...................
