So I've been doing good. About 3 months without SH but I've been having a rough couple of weeks and then I got some bad news last week and I'm spending nearly all day fighting against the urge and everyday it's getting stronger but I really don't want to start this again, but I don't know what to do.
On a side note I had an advisor tell me he doesn't think my mental health is as bad as I think it is, which is what set this all off to begin with.
Because as soon as he told me that, my brain went straight too "you should cut yourself and see how good he thinks you're doing then" and that's all its been for weeks now and evertime I see him it comes back again and I'm just stuck on this loop and every week I feel like I'm dropping another rung.

3 months is good. well done.

I know how things like " you're doing better than you think you are" can be seen as bit of an insult (especially when you know you're struggling yourself), even though I'm sure they were just trying to compliment you.

do you have some healthy coping methods of dealing with SI?

Yes, I agree 3 months is an amazing start. We don't realize how much we need to see our progress to feel it is there. I am not trying to make your problems into nothing, but 3 months is progress. You are moving in the right direction. Slow down, take a few breaths if you need to and take the compliment. Next rung, coping and dealing with it.

Three months is really great! That doesn't mean you aren't struggling or that you aren't hurting, but it's a good accomplishment and you should feel good about it, if you can. I understand the feelings starting back up, but just remember they are just feelings. You don't have to act on them. Try lots of other things, distracting things. See if you can get past it. Everything shifts in time. Be kind to yourself. Hugs Kit
