Default Cold Turkey

Has anyone been able to stop SH cold turkey? Pastor T is seeming like that is what he is asking me to do while Regular T seems to be advocating a gradual strategy. I honestly don't know if I can just stop, on the other hand, the gradual approach doesn't seem to be working well either. I just don't know how to stop. A former T told me that it's going to take as long as it's going to take. Hopefully I am moving in the right direction. Any ideas? Hugs Kit

Thanks for posting this. Unfortunately I don't have any nifty suggestions for you. In my own case I stopped once I had done irreparable harm to myself & had to face the reality that, if I continued, I could make things even worse than they already were / are. Clearly that's not a strategy I would want to recommend to anyone.

The thing is, if it weren't for the fact I could make things even worse than they already are, I suspect I might do it again. (The urge is still there.) So personally I'm inclined to agree with your former T who said it will take as long as it takes. I know that's not the answer you were looking for. But it's the one I have. There are articles, in PC's archives, on the subject of how to change a bad habit. I don't know if there is anything in these articles that could be of help. However here are links to 3 of them:

Thanks @Skeezyks I always sort of thought myself. Like there will be one time when I go too far and then it will be like, okay I have to stop this. I thought it would be when I first got stitches, but that wasn't enough to deter me. Now I fear nothing will. Might just try to stop cold turkey and see what happens. Might not work but maybe it will. Thanks for your reply. HUGS Kit
