My pharmacy is in our local supermarket. I don't know who actually owns it. Maybe it's the supermarket chain itself. They also have the phone thing where you punch in a bunch of numbers to get your refills. And if your prescription has no refills they'll contact your doc to get refills approved. The nice thing for me is that the supermarket is within easy walking distance from home. So I just amble over once a month & pick up my refills along with anything else I might want.

My pharmacy is close to my home, too. It's sure nice to be able to walk to the places you need to go. Also they deliver, which is a big plus sometimes.

Just a couple of days ago, for some reason, I suddenly recalled how my mother, her sister, their mother, and their mother's sister (my great aunt) used to get together to can. And in particular I recalled how, when they canned jams, they would pour hot melted wax over the top of the jam in the jar prior to adding the cover. When you were ready to eat the jam, you simply removed the cover and pulled the solidified wax disk off of the top of the jam.

I remember my mum doing that with her sisters in law. And my grandma. It was always a big project. They also got together to make lefse. They made two kinds, one from potato and one from corn meal. They’d bring their lefse grills and special flat wooden sticks for turning. I think it tapered off after my grandma died in the 70’s. mum still made lefse until about 15 years ago. Just small batches. Now we buy it from the church.

Do you ever eat it with lutefisk? Or the better known brown sugar and butter?
