Nixon resigning. We were at the beach, where there was no TV in those days. So, we left a little early to head home because my dad wanted to see the news conference. I had no idea what was going on, other than my parents didn't seem to think very well of this Nixon person.

I was 15 when he resigned and caught up in my own teen angus but my friends and I made a lot of jokes about deep throat, or something like that

"KENT STATE PROTEST. On 4 May 1970 Ohio national guardsmen opened fire on Kent State University students protesting the Vietnam War. In a mere thirteen seconds four students were killed, and nine others wounded. What had begun as a small campus demonstration turned Kent State into a symbol of the Vietnam era worldwide."

I vividly remember Kent state. That picture was everywhere

Got 100% but the answer choices were pretty self evident

Since it is Halloween, I remember going over to my grandma's house and getting one of her sticky warm caramel popcorn balls that she was wrapping in cellophane for the trick or treaters.

My bag usually consisted of homemade bags of popcorn, cookies, candies. Plus I got a few big red juicy apples. Caramel apples on a stick. Big oranges and sometimes giant candy bars. I also got pennies and nickels. We usually trick or treated for UNICEF!

The kids usually soaped windows and put toothpicks in peoples doorbells, not me of course I was too afraid to do something like that...........lol.

Yeah, I got the same things in my trick or treat bag. We would ditch our jackets under a pine tree and freeze to look good in our costumes. The adults didn't walk with us.

We had civil defense drills and a tour of the fallout shelter under the Mother House at the convent.

I recall the fallout shelters and sirens drills for civil defense evacuations.
Some people had shelters built below ground by their homes.

I like those, Can't we still buy them?

How about animal crackers in the circus wagon box? Anyone seen those lately? Do they offend vegans?

I looked Necco Wafers up on the web to check on the spelling. So they are still available although I don't know if one could buy them at Target... maybe Walmart?

Animal crackers are still available, although I don't know if the circus wagon box is. Do they offend vegans? Not being one... I wouldn't know. Maybe Nabisco could come up with a version that is made in the shapes of broccoli, cauliflower & carrots?

I do remember the candy that came in colored drops on paper. But I had to search the internet to find out what they were called. It's "candy buttons".

The truck driver ads are a new one on me. But, then, I never smoked. So I didn't have much occasion to use match books.

Those old gums were good. Cracker Barrel also has a bunch of "old-fashioned" candies. I love to look at them.
