Because it was General Electric! My grandma always called the refrigerator the "Frigidaire." It was the name of one brand of them. |

Yeah, I heard "icebox." too. I'm too young to remember them, though.
I still like to say "cranking up the car," although I know people know longer need to literally do that. |

In 1961, the teacher brought a small b&w TV into school (unheard of) so that we could watch Alan Shepard go into space... what a time it was, on the edge of...

Yeah, independence and freedom from is not all it's cracked up to be,....I miss full service stations. But I do like the 24/7 hours too. Remember when they closed at 10pm and somethings were closed on Sunday's too. You had to fill the tank ahead of time or run out of gas.
