I was fascinated by felt bible characters and animals that we watched the Sunday School Teacher move around as she taught the lessons. I think they would just cling to a felt background.
We got to play with them when it was over. |

I checked a YouTube video on Chatty Cathy, thinking it might be one of my baby sitter’s dolls we weren’t supposed to touch. I’m not sure, but here is the video if you are interested. It’s a commercial
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=f-sYQ8_2v_Q I found my babysitter a couple of years ago and called her. I thought she was so grown up when I was a kid. It turns out she is only four years older than me. It’s funny how things seem so different to children. Last edited by Anonymous45390; May 12, 2018 at 03:45 PM.. |

Topo Gigio from Ed Sullivan Show
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeEptJ4aUeM There was a really cute one where ed put him to bed but I can't find it. Don't forget Shirley Temple and Patty Duke show along with Gidget. My sister had a collection of 30 wishnics, different sizes. Yes we would make clothes for them, since they were naked......lol Last edited by Hairball; May 12, 2018 at 04:23 PM.. |

Anybody remember the clacker ballsS? Hard plastic balls on the ends of string, you twirled them so that they clacked together.....sometimes they shattered or hitting someone was possible too. Dangerous stuff

I do remember the clacker balls! Move your hand quickly up and down and they hit at the top and the bottom!
It’s so fun to remember these things! |

Playing marbles and collecting cats eyes pretty ones. Do kids still play marbles? Speaking of collections, remember when gumball machines had charms in them? If you were lucky, you got a charm along with your gumball for a penny. My friend and I had a charm collection for years!
I had one of those felt poodle skirts too! And saddle shoes. What about penny loafers with the pennies in them? I had bad feet so I couldn't wear loafers but always wished I could! |

My sis and I had a Chatty Cathy doll. We got it as part of the pay for modeling for a flooring company. Our picture appeared in a national magazine.
We also each had Wishnick (Sp) troll dolls. My cousins had a machine that made things like frogs out of goop that was heated. Did any of you ladies have a Barbie game? The winner got to go with Ken to the ball. And any of you remember fishnet hose? |

We bought a Barbie game at a flea market, my daughter played it with her friends in the eighties.

I didn’t have a Barbie game.
I just remembered my friend had the head and shoulders Barbie you put make up on. We used to take her mom’s Avon makeup samples to use on it. Remember those little white Avon lipstick samples? |

Remember when everyone bought cb radios for their cars and started using trucker lingo like 10-4?
Wasn’t there a movie or a song called Convoy? I just looked...ha! I think both, but I can’t play the song at work. |

"Yep, 10-4, buddy. Is smokie around? What's your 10-20?" Everyone had to have one of those radios. I had forgotten about that!

Ha! Yes.
You know what was also odd back then? You would hear something like the song Convoy, Barbara Streisand, and Aerosmith all on the same radio station. Good grief, I do remember this Convoy song. I can’t figure out why it has 12.5 million hits on YouTube. I looked it up on Wikipedia. Apparently, it was a huge country hit, but a smaller pop hit. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Sd5ZLJWQmss |
