Ha! I’ve done it to myself too. The earworm...
Am I the only one here that had a round bed? Mine was green (not my choice), my mom’s was red, but she had a white-silk blanket custom made for it, embroidered with red roses. I think the one in the basement was white. Yeah, she was bipolar too... They kind of looked like this one, only the headboard trim was brighter gold and fancier, like our awful water fountain that hung on the wall. The bed spreads were better tailored like furniture upholstery and velvety, except for mine which had a stiff furry consistency. |

I do remember the waterbeds! My high school friend told me about one she got to feel, and I was envious. I never got to feel one until the late 80s. It was hard to get out of!

We cut out paper dolls from the catalogs, too, and used them for toilet tissue for awhile, until we got indoor plumbing.
I tried a water bed, but didn't like it. I like my bed to stay still! |

I wanted an easy bake oven sooo bad, but my mom said if I wanted to cook that bad, she would teach me on a real stove. Oh well. I had the clack balls and discovered how truly uncoordinated I was. And there was this one toy I remember that tied around your ankle and then you would make it go around in a circle and jump over the stick attached. I don’t remember the name of it though. __________________ Practicing being here now. |

I wore fishnet hose to the Rocky Horror Picture Show every Saturday night for 42 Saturday nights I wish I knew how to upload photos because I have a pic of myself at age 18 (my birthday) as Magenta. But then, I still wore fishnets in the 90's. Another terrific thread! So many memories. The clacker balls - yes - holy cow, were those things dangerous, or what?! Although, I never knew of anyone hit by them. In high school I used to tie my shirts up to make midi shirts, got into trouble frequently for "showing my belly button". So silly. Wish I could show my belly button nowadays... Lycra disco skirts worn with a lycra leotard and spike-heeled Candies. For women. Guys wore Angel Flight suits to dances. Wow. So many memories... |

Kazoos....
A group from my high school marching band would drive down to Hollywood blvd after the game for pizza. The pizza place gave kazoos to everyone who ate there. We would walk down Hollywood Blvd after eating playing our band music on our kazoos. Oh yes.....the Neru jackets & really wide bell bottom pants were popular at that time too. I always had to be careful not to trip myself on those flowing bell bottom pant legs. (While walking down Hollywood Blvd playing my kazoo) Long straight hair that looked good even after swimming in the ocean. Only problem was I had long curley & frizzy hair. Never could get that california beach look. Trol dolls. I had one. My family also didn't have money so lots of fads I never got involved in Paper dolls I remember because my grandparents bought me books of them to entertain myself while staying wuth them in kansas during my summer vacations. My favorite was street baseball with the guys in my neighborhood. All the cars watched out for us. Making forts out of tree branches trimmed in the fall & playing cowboys & indians before it became politically incorrect __________________ Leo's favorite place was in the passenger seat of my truck.
