Yeah, we sure remember before thirty years ago, but I thought this article would get the topic of fads started. Some of them have been mentioned in other threads such as pet rocks and hula hoops. Anybody remember Wishnik Troll dolls--little ugly trolls with long hair that could be combed? And fishnet hose? And go-go boots? They were popular during my middle school to high school years.

I already mentioned two of my favorites, mood rings and lava lamps. My sister had gogo boots but I preferred cowboy boots. Saddle shoes were a thing too, I had those.

Yes, saddle shoes. A friend of mine bought some recently! Mine were a variation of the theme--tan and brown.

Poodle skirts, I was too young but my sisters had them.

Hot pants, halter tops (or if you didn’t have one on pulling your T-shirt bottom through the neck and wrap around he bra, pull down to tighten—I’m in public, I can’t check my memory on that, LOL), short shorts, I dream of Genie pony tail on top.
Hot stuff... |

Ha ha, I love my short shorts as the nair ads did say! Hot pants in hot pink too. Oh yeah I remember my first halter top I was only allowed to wear it at the lake.
Remember the one peice pant suits? What a pain when you had to go the bathroom! __________________ Nammu …Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. …... Desiderata Max Ehrmann |

*Super Balls (Do they still make them?)
*Playing "Cats Cradle" with a piece of yard tied in a circle. *Devil's Night. The night before Halloween, when kids would go out & create havoc (ringing doorbells, soaping windows, etc.) *Creepy Crawlers...A red hot iron filled with plastic goop; it created rubber bugs. |

Beggers night, the night after Halloween, going out as beggers and getting the rest of the candy. and the hard ball knockers, I won't call them what they were called, bc it would be offensive to ppl.

My sister had a creepy crawler maker and I had an incredible edible maker, gosh they were so gross tasting....lol. We also had this little machine that held a bottle of coke and dispensed it into little cups. I still have two furbys but they stopped talking a long time ago, guess they just got old...lol
As far as clothes go it was popular for us girls to wear bodysuits that snapped at the crotch and dickies that turned everything into a turtleneck. Plus it was cool if you were a girl scout and had a sash full of badges. Anyone remember gidget? or topo gigio? |

I liked silly putty—we used to bite it with the very front teeth and it would snap.
Play Doh! Remember the smell? Crissy doll with adjustable hair length (dial on her back, adjustable hair portion came out of the top of her head) Lite Bright (colored pegs lit up on a board) |

My cousins had trolls, I wasn't much into em. I liked the much more expensive horse recreations. My favorite was a Friesian, I was caught between horses and sci fi. Star Trek was a fad that became a cult. My dad did model cars and I did model space ships like the Enterprise and romulin ships.
