I have decided to take the plunge and let my hair go gray and then grow it long. I was going to wait until I was 70, but I turn 60 in a month and I thought "what the heck!".

I did this once before but started dying it again after I was mistaken for my best friend's mother!

Anyone else have gray hair stories?

My grey just dulls my hair and they are also fizzy. I just got my hair professionally dyed for the first time on my 60th birthday and I got so many compliments I've decided to keep doing it until they grey outnumbers the auburn. But long grey hair, go for it, I think it looks great.

I have purple hair and its naturally dirty blonde. I have some minor salt and pepper going on if I leave it although I have been purple for 5 years now. Once I know it will go white I will let it grow out and never plan to have it short. I like my long hair no matter what color it is.

I have gone all grey - white even - on my facial hair.

The sides of my head are grey now too.

I used to have blonde hair, but I like the grey better. I won't be changing it.

I have been silver gray for 6 years now. I love freedom from expense and time spent in the salon dyeing my hair. I try to wear jewel tone colors now since light colors wash me out.

As soon as I get a grey hair I have it coloured. The joys of getting old.

I have always refused to color my hair. It started going gray after my knee surgery when I was 39.

I don't use make-up.....I am an all natural kinda person. What you see is what you get. I actually like the silver highlights my gray creates now & no one's suggesting I do anything differently will work. I don't need to be anything different than what I am naturally.

Oh yes....in the old days my grandmother was into dying her hair & fingernail polish. She developed a horrible reaction to both. I already have had allergic reactions to makeup so I don't want to even throw away money on trying to find what might work....waste if time & $. Everything we use on our hair or body gets into our pours & into our system.....not adding anything more than what naturally happens in my environment.

I had dirty blonde hair (straight and fine) and dyed it red or lighter blonde through out adulthood. A few years ago I wanted to let it go natural, I was about half silver. (I'm 60). I kept it short for a while too. I do love my silver but I think about dying it now and then and im letting it grow out.

Hmm...I think I will get some red dye next time I go to Walmart. ...

So far I only have a gray hair or two. I'll have to wait and see what happens.

I got a haircut a week ago and now more of the brown is gone and more of the gray is visible. Since I used semipermanent dye, it is fading out rather than leaving a line, thank goodness. So far I am feeling OK about it and no one has said anything. I will have to send a picture to my family before I visit since I haven't seen them for 9 months.

Im letting mine go naturally grey,,, its hard but at 61 Im ready, my hairdresser wanted to bleach it out but Im not going to do that, it drys out the hard and its soft , its brittle, ugh, awful feeling. I want soft hair so I deep condition it and use hot oils, it doesnt make mine oily;
Wish me luck, you go for it, I am

I have very thick, mid-length white hair and everyone says that it is beautiful!

I used to dye the grey out at work because when transitioning from reddish to grey I got negative comments and behaviour. I didn't want to deal with that negativity day in day out (male dominated industry). Dying it didn't actually make it back into the reddish mane that I had in my twenties, and I am much happier since I stopped seeing the regrowth in shopping mall mirrors and let nature take it's course. A good clear white goes with lots of different coloured clothes also.

I seem to be more smiley in public than I used to be when I was struggling to look like I was still 20, and the smiles get reciprocated.

I decided to quit dyeing my hair maybe a year ago. I was born a brunette but always liked red hair and dyed it that color many times. For quite a few years more recently I was dyeing my hair burgundy. I was curious to see how gray I was so I let it grow out. I turned 60 last month and I like my gray hair and I've earned every gray hair on my head! I had a pixie hair cut for many years but now I have a bob. I doubt I'll dye my hair again.

My hair is thick, wavy and white with a bit of grey. I use a high-level blonde toner over it, which blends the white really nicely. Shwarzkopf Blonde Me in Ice (toner) is fabulous.

I'm fine with my hair greying. I can't imagine the expense it would take to color my hair every month.

I am very fond of grey hair, too. If you ever want to make a slight change without paying a fortune every month (and having roots - ick), you can have highlights or lowlights put in your hair. They blend nicely with grey, give some depth, and never leave roots. I used to do lowlights and only needed them redone every 4th month, or so.
