Sometimes the thought of getting to the bottom of my obsession scares me. Sex is how i cope and get through ups and downs, i need it. If i get better, how will i cope? How will i deal with difficult situations? Like a drug, having it makes me want more, it gets me going, gives me chills down my spine and nothing else matters in that moment. I feel secure knowing i can always depend on sex to pick me up, even if just for a moment. Do i not want to get better? Do i want to be an addict?
Am I alone?

((((Mentoshe)))) I'm sorry you're struggling. Just know that there are other, healthier ways to cope with difficult situations other than addictions. In any case, you'll never know the truth unless you try to get out of the addiction... although it's not easy, I know.

Thanks MickeyCheeky . I guess once I've gotten better with everything my mindset with be changed and I'll be able to think clearer and see those other healrhier ways. I've shared my issues with others and I think I maybe ( that's a strong maybe) have an idea of where at least some of this stems from. I guess I should start by addressing that first.

Here's a link to an article, from PC's archives, that addresses the subject of grieving the loss of an addiction plus a link to a second article on the subject of frozen grief & how it affects addiction & recovery. Perhaps some of the information in these articles can be of some help:

Grieving the Loss of Addiction

Frozen Grief and How It Affects Addiction and Recovery

You're not alone man, I've been an addict since my high school years and probably the scariest decision I ever had to make was getting clean. Like the mere thought is absolutely daunting, it made me sick to my stomach to think about how I was going to navigate through this world without a crutch but once you're clean, you find healthy ways to cope and you learn a level of self-control that you never knew you'd be able to have. It takes years and years and many times sometimes messing up royally but it's worth it 100% and I'd do it a hundred times over.

You're not alone. 99.9% of people love sex, and would have way more if they could. You just love it a little more than others.

I also used it as a coping mechanism for the last few months to get over a breakup, and I realized that the attention and feeling hot to somebody is only temporary and not a permanent solution.

It sounds like the real problem is what you're having sex to cope with. You don't have to share it here but you need to figure out what the source of your stress is, and fix it ASAP.

Find a sponsor! It has helped me. Someone who you can trust and work the 12 steps. That's what I'm doing anyway.
