In particular, what happens on a gay beach that doesn't happen on a beach that is not gay?

Got an assignment to Wheeler AFB, Hawaii, October 1992--When I arrived they said--"You have been selected for an early out. (Air Force Reorganization/cutbacks) You have to get out NLT December 1992." So we said, don't unpack any of our stuff. Stayed in a hotel or furnished apartment on Waikiki Beach until December. We walked and strolled past the gay portion of the beach everyday. More speedos and sunscreen lotion--they made sure their partner did not get sunburned. There was no reason to complain--no one seemed like a troublemaker at all...
We left New Year's Eve--boy was Waikiki Beach getting more and more crowded the closer we got to New Year's Day. I bet the party there rivals NYC and the weather is so much better....

I don't know. Is there a punch line? Maybe there's less kids?
But then where do gay families go? I'm kind of lost here.

I've been to over 15 gay beaches across the U.S. In gay beaches, there is a large section where most gay and lesbian families stay in to sunbathe and swim in the water.

But then there is a very secluded area where mostly gay men (and some lesbian women) go and have sex.
