I am 15 years old and I have been suffering with some problems recently. i have noticed that my sex drive has decreased and I am struggling to get erections. I have a balanced diet, get enough sleep, not stresssed, and I do not smoke or take any drugs. I never get wet dreams and unlike when I was 13,14; my erections arent as hard as they used to be and normally I can only get ¾ of full erection but never actually a proper one, no matter whether I am trying to turn myself on or watching porn etc. I cannot think why this is. Now I am starting to get worried when I am with a girl I won’t be able to get up. I am not suffering from any condition like anxiety or despression and I am living a very stress free life, someone please help?! I am just worrried this will ruin things with a girl and that I will not be able to get up as I am struggling to alone, and other people say they sometimes get random erection and I never do, even had a girl basically twerk on me naked (i had trousers on) and I did not get hard just precum, please somebody give me some advice or help, what do I do?

Hello teenboy: I see this is your first post here on PC. So... welcome to PsychCentral! I hope you find the time you spend here to be of benefit.

I'm afraid I don't know what to tell you about this. If you were a bit older, I'd be inclined to say it's simply worry over the fact you're having difficulty getting erections. That sort of thing tends to feed on itself, so to speak. One has an incident or two & they start to worry about it. And that just leads to more problems & more worry, etc. It can become a vicious circle, so to speak.

I suppose something like that could be what's going on with you. But, at your age, & given the description you gave of yourself, this seems unlikely to me. (However, I'm certainly no expert with regard to these sorts of things either.) My inclination, at this point, would be to suggest that you get yourself thoroughly checked out medically with emphasis on your various hormone levels. I wonder if perhaps what you're experiencing possibly has something to do with low testosterone levels. At least, before you chalk this situation up to psychological difficulties, I'd make sure you've checked out any-&-all possible medical / endocrine problems.

I don't know if you plan to hang in here with us on PC or if you've just come seeking some advice with regard to this particular problem. But should you plan to hang in here, may I suggest you introduce yourself over on PC's New Member Introductions forum? Here's a link:

https://forums.psychcentral.com/new-...introductions/

There's a lot of support that can be available here on PC. The more you post, & reply to other members' posts, the more a part of the community you will become. Plus there are the chat rooms where you'll be able to interact with other PC members in real time (once your first 5 posts have been reviewed & approved.) So please keep posting!

Thank you for your advice I will take it on but is it possible to see my GP or doctor without having to consult my parents/ have them know ? It is a pretty awkward topic I don't really want to have to explain it to them. So is it possible to seek help without involving my parents?

Here’s a basic idea....imho only.
Turn the porn off & open this book up on the subject of “puberty” which you’re in!!!! Then try an anatomy book & sexual education type book too. Some podcasts on puberty, even google it for extra reading material.

You state that you live a “stress free life”.....I’m not sure I see any issue here except self esteem & self knowledge problems.
Geeez!

First off, the person above me was a bit condescending, even if that wasn't their intention. I mean, you're a teenager with a valid problem. You deserve respect. If people told me, "Hey, you're going through puberty and your emotions are all over the place so your depression isn't serious", I don't think I'd be here. =/

On to your question: I feel like there are places you can go that will be confidential...Unfortunately, I'm not sure where or what they are but maybe try googling some in your area. Good luck! I'm sure you're okay but I understand why you're worried.

Yes I agree it was condescending bec the OP stated that there is NO REASON for MH issues. I did not read anything about depression.

I did read that a 15yo is having issues w/ getting an erection while clinically in the middle of puberty which usually starts around age 12.

During puberty the penis & testicles are growing, changing...along with other huge changes in the body.
Again I did not see anything stated by the original post that states this person has a MH issue. Do you?

There are quite a few risk factors that could cause your problem. I'm not going to list them all here; I'll just post the link. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-...s/syc-20355776

I understand not wanting to discuss this with your family. I am not familiar with health care in the UK but you probably can get a private discussion with your physician.

I feel the same way; the person came off very condescending. I'm glad you pointed it out!

Sorry I’m sticking with my condescending reply! Education is your best bet. Facts!
