All my life I've done this. As arousal increases, I tighten up all of my muscles and body, as if I am squeezing every part of me. Even with ejaculation, I've always held it in as long as possible.

I am transgender, born male and now on HRT for 4 years. I was just reading that this is pretty common for women, but I was surprised to discover that this is not so common among men. The idea that men generally go from arousal through orgasm without this tension is totally foreign to me.

Thoughts? True in your experience?
Just curious.

Very interesting post MirandaPacifica. Yes, this is typical for women....I would consider it part of the arousal, pre-orgasm process. I read once that a sex expert recommended that women try to lessen the muscle tightening in order to prolong the orgasm. Easier said than done, I imagine. It never occurred to me to ask if the same occurs for men. I'll ask my partner. Curious. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you both!

I am a transgender woman and started hormones about 3-4 years ago. I never really thought about it either until I saw that article. I had no idea that not all women do that, but also no idea that men don't seem to do that generally. I also tend to hold my breath.

For me it's my whole body, but definitely more so on the bottom half. But I've also read about staying relaxed.

I just find sexuality fun and interesting to talk about. Part of the reason for posting this is to practice being more comfortable talking about it!

Great post! I enjoy discussing sexuality too but I know it makes a lot of folks uncomfortable. Thankfully we have this thread on PC which is a safe space for talk about sex etc
