i've been a loner so-to-speak all of my life. had just a few boyfriends. never had sex, waiting until marriage i guess. but how many guys want to date someone who has depression?! i'm 23 and the thought of dying without ever having sex (or kids for that matter) is starting to bother me greatly.

i have a guy friend that use to be really close to me. i know his family and his parents love me. do i take my chance with him, knowing that depression could get the best of me at anytime??

please let me know what you think on this one...

thanks, jrae

I think you should tread very, very carefully with this. Sex between friends sounds like a perfect thing, but quite honestly, it often ends badly and with one person falling in love or having feelings.

That being said, personally I don't think there is anything WRONG with that type of situation.

Do you think you have actual feelings for this guy? Or is it just that you really want to experience sex for the first time?

What do YOU feel is best for you?

Do you think you would be able to handle it if something happened and you did not stay together or stay friends? Could you handle it if it turned out to not be a great experience?

I think it really depends on all of these things.

Your body, heart and mind are gifts to you.

And they are gifts to others,,if you so please.

A gift received should be cherished.

A gift given should be also..

IMHO.

You're not the only guy with depression in the world. There are other guys in the same boat as you, you just have to find them. That's a lot easier said than done, but it can be done. Maybe you'll meet someone on this board, or another board, or in a therapy group. I know I'm having trouble finding other lesbians in the group I go to, so we'll see...I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
