this really gets to me
im gay, and i have MH problems. so in a sense me and loads of other people are a minority within a minority. does that make sense gay AND 'crazy' , i think it does.

i struggle to accept who i am and what im all about and i fear im going to be alone the rest of my life.

it would be cool to know if other people think like this or differently?

CHARL

((((((((((((((Charlotte)))))))))))))))))

Nice to meet you, and you're not rude at all! gay AND 'crazy'

I wish I could say I totally understood... but I'm a minority myself, having a physical disability, learning disability and mental health issues. I'm going to assume someone else will come along and say hello who can understand more than I can... but welcome, and you're not alone here at all! gay AND 'crazy'

Have you maybe thought about joining a gay support group or something like that? Or moving to a city that is more open about people being gay?

I agree! Finding a group of people who have some of the same concerns is a great idea.

Are there any support groups in your area? Whether they are mental health or gay oriented really doesn't matter in the beginning, at least you will meet people with some of your same issues. Although, if you live in an area that is really anti gay area, you may want to be careful about which groups you join. Really unfair, I know. gay AND 'crazy'

Look for PFLAG, which I believe is an international group in support of gay and lesbians, along with their families. It is a very good group here in the states.

Keep posting here too............ We are a great group of supportive people also!

i have some gay friends within the mental health system. two of them lead very productive lives.
i still can understand your pain. perhaps you can try a career in advocacy because its a great way to meet like-minded people and keep your spirits up.
good luck and welcome to this new place.
