I have been having numerous recurring dreams about attending my old high school, even though I am a second year grad student at my university. These dreams have come up during the summer, one involving a disco-like party at my high school, another where I started to attend high school classes to earn college credits, and last night I had a dream about getting lunch at a newly expanded food court and attempting to make friends many years removed from my actual high school years. I typically do not think about my high school years, as most of my best memories have been made in the last 6 years at my college, and even more so in the last year and a half of grad school.

I guess one explanation is that these dreams signify a longing for my “true” friends from my hometown due to a declining social life at my uni, with my best friends moving away, others were fake friends which hurt my self-esteem, so maybe I actually ponder my high school years more than I consciously think? What do you think PC? Could this be a sign for me to try harder to reconnect with more of my true, possibly stronger friendships that I developed during high school or even earlier on in my life?

Yes, I think you may be right, DazedandConfused254. There are probably some issues related to your high school years, especially if you're struggling with your social life right now. I think trying to reconnect with your old friends may be a good idea to give it some sort of closure. Although I also believe it's a sign you need to move on as far as friendships are concerned. Sending many hugs to you

I think your dream may represent your expanded knowledge (expanded food court), The people there represent parts of your self. You are connecting with new parts of yourself, as you learn and grow in life (school).

Any time I dream of eating it means I either am hungry or I skipped a meal, as long as I follow a good diet I dont have dreams of eating. any time I dream of high school events like dances and parties and the friends I had in high school it means I am stressed out on work or other stressful matters and need to take time out of the serious heavy stuff for a bit of fun. And I have lost touch with the high school friends and want to contact them As long as I do that I dont have dreams of high school parties. when I wake up I go on my facebook account and look up the high school friend I dreamed about and I send them a message. that solves the dreaming about long lost friends.

in the end only you can say what this dream means to you and what you want to do about it.

Thank you all very much for your input! All of this advice is very applicable to my current situation. It goes to show that though it is probably not the best way of living to reside in the past, I think it would be very healthy to continue to reconnect with long lost friends. Quite a few of them probably know me better than I know myself. Thanks again!
