I am so sensitive I guess to my sleep schedule. I went out Friday night with a couple of friends had some drinks went to a movie, just hung out you know. Got to bed a little after midnight. I slept in a couple hours later than I normally would. Fast forward to tonight and presto, can’t sleep. What am I supposed to do!!!! Oh sorry guys but it’s 9:45 I have got to head home I have work Monday morning. Or oh I’m really enjoying this book and I know it’s Friday night but I have got to be up by 6 Monday morning. This is just frankly pissing me off.

I haven't been able to sleep for 12 plus years. It's very annoying. I feel for you. If you find something that works, let me know.

Have you always had these sleep issues? Has this happened before?

I'm so sorry, annoyedgrunt84. I guess you just need time to adjust to new sleep schedules. That happens to me as well. Have you talked to your doctor about this? Maybe that could help. Sending many hugs to you

So you got upset because you were out a little too late Friday night?

Friday nights are for having fun no sense in beating yourself up over staying up too late Fri/Sat night. Let yourself be free and enjoy your life. If you get less sleep Sunday night then you can adapt with caffeine or something.

People might not agree with my suggestion here but the way I see it, you will never get this time back. Enjoy it to it's fullest. You can always get another job or do make up work or whatever for what you got going Monday but you will never regain lost time.

That's the way I see things now. I live in the moment. Learning to enjoy life does wonders for my mental health.

I agree with Darkness. Live it up a little. There is no harm in staying up late sometimes.

Oh hell yes.

There is nothing wrong with staying up late period.

I swear I am part vampire at this point I straight up function far better at nights than days. It isn't uncommon for me to stay up well past 2AM even if I have to be up early. I've learned how to function off a lot of caffeine and little sleep.

But yeah, people who like nights get so much hate in society. Like you are considered weird or crazy if you prefer to work a graveyard shift over a 9-5 job. You are considered a loser or undisciplined if you hate waking up early. I don't think its right to judge people who prefer nights honestly.

To each their own though.

It’s just that my sleep schedule gets so messed so easily that I’m upset about. I’m Ok with getting less sleep say 5-6 hours it’s that I often can’t sleep for days at at a time and I’m getting very tired. But I do think that I need to be more assiduous about getting up by 7 or 8 at the latest on weekends even if I was up until midnight, 1, or 2 or even later. Your responses are great though I figured I would get the same old tired crap about sleep hygiene etc. that you always get when you google this problem. I plan on hanging out again this Friday.

I feel you and sorry you are struggling with this. I'll admit I agree with Darknessismyfriend - and I'd also indulge in reading the heck out of the book your enjoying, can't sleep well till I "complete" something so once you've finished it you might be able to log off easier in your head.
Hope you get some shut eye soon

I’ve been trying a warm shower and occasionally a guided meditation which seems to help me wind down almost at will.
