☡Caution☡ this post deals with the death of a loved one.

First off I don't believe in a deep meaning to dreams. If you do that's fine, but I don't. I know this dream basically means I am struggling with my mother in-law's death. Also I have VERY vivid dreams. It is not uncommon for me to struggle when I first wake if what happened was a dream or really happened.

My wife's mom died in late January of '19. She basically sufficated. She sat down on her couch (we assume to catch her breath & rest for a minute) & she fell asleep & never woke back up. Both my wife and I have been struggling with her death, understandably so. For that reason I can not tell her about this dream, but I have to tell someone.

I dreamed last night that we had just found her body & the coroner had already pronounced death. She was no longer breathing and her heart wasn't beating. Then some time later the people from the Funeral home show up to get her body. 1 of them notices that she is barely breathing. We put her oxygen back on and she comes back around. Now that's not to say all is well but she was alive. She was still struggling to breath and very tired. It was fairly obvious her body was trying to shut down, but hey we are just glad she is alive.

Rather than taking her to the hospital to see a doctor, where she needs to be, we decide to take her to go visit a bunch of different people. I didn't know these people but my wife did. This whole time my mother in law wasn't really talking. She was just breathing heavily and sleeping a lot.

When I finally woke up she was still alive but just sleeping. It was a very unnerving dream & it didn't help me any in dealing with her death.

Have you and your wife been visiting lots of people lately? People you hardly know? Do you feel worn out and just want to sleep through those visits? This mother in law in your dreams may represent how you are feeling in real life. She is a part of yourself in the dream. You may not be taking care of yourself.

Freud said that a dream represents the fulfilment of a wish, so perhaps it means that you wish she hadn't really died but that you'd been there in time to save her?
