Hey friends,

So in other threads I've mentioned I have a sleep disorder. Because I work full-time, running my own consulting firm (something like 50-60 hours a week at least) I have been pushing myself to be on a normal sleep schedule. But it's just not working. I was trying to stop taking mid-day naps, which were just like 90 minutes long, because I thought they were interfering with my ability to sleep at night.

FYI, my sleep disorder does not make it difficult to fall asleep. I am an early riser. I keep losing sleep on the morning side. Like that guy from the book Insomnia by Stephen King.

So for maybe a month now I've been trying to force myself into a regular sleep schedule. It's not working. Yes, I've tried everything. I'm not looking for help in staying asleep. Right now I'm actually going to begin an experiment of just sleeping when I need to, for as long as my body wants, and seeing what that does to me.

I'm curious what other sleep schedules people who are working full time have, including naps or whatever they do to help offset if they have trouble sleeping. Would love to hear I'm not the only one choosing to have a weird sleep schedule to make life work.

My sleep schedule isn't one. I sleep when I'm tired and stay up when I'm not. I used to take Seroquel for sleep but I'm off it again.

Do you find that this routine or lack thereof interferes with anything you would like to do?

Yes, but I'm generally a loser so I'm not that important to anyone. I do keep appointments very well, sleep or not

Oh that's good that you have the mental strength to keep the appointment with or without sleep.

I don't think you're a loser. I hate that term in general, same as trash. I don't believe in calling people losers or trash. We are all humans. We all make choices, we all suffer consequences, life is not a game, there are no winners and losers. We all end up in the same place. We all have different journeys. It sounds like yours is more difficult than others'. Doesn't make you a loser in my book. Makes you a fighter.

Thanks. I raised several kids and spent 30 years with undiagnosed bipolar. I learned to function on no sleep for days.
I've amounted to nothing in life. I realized that I'm nothing and accept it. I even celebrate it a little. I'm grateful I'm leaving minimum impacts, in the days where everyone wants to be famous.
