I've been having long, violent, graphic dreams on Trazodone. The content should be disturbing, but it's not and I'm rather confused by this. Like the dream I had last night where
Possible trigger:
The dream seemed like it went on for a long time. It wasn't like a nightmare as I was not scared.

Did you know that Trazodone is a "black box" medication? It also can cause scary nightmares and night terrors. I don't know why doctors would prescribe this terrible drug to people for sleep.

I found a forum for you where people discuss their experiences with Trazodone causing terrible nightmares for them.

Can Trazodone cause me to have nightmares or very odd dreams? (Page 2)

My doctor perscribed me up to 150 mg nightly in highschool for sleep. He knew I had night terrors and I was never warned it could increase them. My advice, dont take it. It will keep giving you weird dreams. And you want a natural rythmn to your body, try hollistic options first.

I have taken trazodone for 30 years and it still helps me sleep. Never have nightmares. I have taken other drugs that caused strange effects. My advice would be to tell your doc and see if the dosage needs adjusted or maybe try something else. When I took cymbalta, about a year, I had huge vivid technicolor dreams. I put up with it because it was working otherwise. Please discuss it with doc. You tend to hear horror stories rather than success stories online.

It it as needed, but I'm already on Cymbalta. The dreams don't alarm me. That is what I find is unusual. Given the content, I would think my reaction would be bad dreams/nightmares. I think I should wake-up feeling scared, but I only think of them as weird. I don't think I'm explaining this very well.

I know what you mean. Maybe it's the combination? I blamed it on the cymbalta but it could be the combo. Are you sleeping well or is it like twilight sleep where you're not quite asleep but dreaming? I sleep like that when I don't take the traz.

I sleep well with meds, but try not to take them more than a few times a week. If I don't take anything, I usually feel like I'm tossing and turning all night.

I've been on Trazodone for months now and my dosage has been recently increased to also treat anxiety&depression but it doesn't make me fall asleep. So frustrated with this medication.
