Has anyone had a dream that you killed your therapist?

Sorry, no, I never had any dream of killing anyone, man nor beast. However, maybe what that may mean is conveying you don't want him helping you anymore, or that he is not helping you the way you need?

The dream was extremely disturbing, that's for sure. In going over it in my mind, I think my mind was trying to make sense of my therapist having to do therapy by phone because of COVID. I'm struggling to be okay with the tele therapy, but unconsciously I'm angry and feel like the therapy won't be helpful.
I guess the dream is good information (and I will tell her about it), still...I wish I wouldn't have dreamt such a creepy thing. Thank you, Open Eyes. __________________ |

Aww, that's probably it Beth, because with phone therapy you don't experience her in a physical sense. Can you do the therapy like a video chat so you can see your therapist?

I'm embarrassed to say that I'm so low-tech I don't have any way to (or know how to) use video. So I'm stuck with the phone - and I'm not much of a phone person, either. BUT all that said...better to have the phone session than no session at all. Thank you, Open Eyes, for your friendship. __________________ |

It's ok Beth, truth is it's not uncommon for older individuals to be this way. I actually have a hard time with video chats. And I just got a lift when I happened across the thread about this and Doc John shared that he felt the same way. I had a video chat session with my therapist and explained to him how I don't like seeing myself and feel it's too distracting. He explained how the insurance won't cover a phone session, but will cover a video chat. He explained that if I find seeing my own image distracts me too much that I can put a napkin over the camera on my phone and that will enable me to see him and not have to see myself.
Well, the younger generation is so used to video chatting and seeing themselves. That's not something I am used to and it's just too distracting for me. So, you can ask your therapist if it's ok if you cover the camera so you can see her but don't get distracted having to see yourself. I found it was more like a session where I could see my therapist and talk like I am used to doing. It's ok if you feel uncomfortable, you can work around it and I think your therapist will understand this. https://psychcentralforums.com/commu...ml#post6800614 |
