I sleep well and deeply but lately have been having vivid dreams and sometimes bad dreams. I don't take any sleep medication...or any medication at all. I read online that it is a common side effect of social isolation to have vivid dreams.
I am also wondering if it is because I am watching too many shows online. Sometimes I find myself watching a lot of shows because I want to escape my situation. I am social isolating alone and am very, very lonely, and have a lot of worries. I have been watching a lot of rather creepy mystery and crime thrillers. My dreams are not about these shows but maybe my imagination is being over-stimulating. I also listen to a lot of radio. Think in the coming week need to switch things up...maybe just listen to calming music. And try to not watch as many streamed dark shows. Maybe check in less with the news. IDK. I think...maybe I am not doing so well and my dreams are reflecting that. It kind of bums me out because usually I love to sleep but now am starting to avoid it because I don't want vivid dreams. __________________ |

Have you tried to watch something more uplifting or light hearted or maybe even stupid? I love crime thrillers myself, but I can only take so much of it before having bad dreams or being afraid to be in a dark room. I try to watch more mindless or light stuff during this trying times. A little stupid won’t hurt anyone.
Checking less with the news might be a good idea too. Some news are not specific or factual enough and are just unnecessary scaring people. I try to keep it to a minimum There are some cool free things we can do online now. Www. edx. org has ton of free and not demanding courses from bunch of universities. Ton on history and art and philosophy etc There are some from Smithsonian, totally cool ones. And some are learning foreign languages. They aren’t time consuming and are free. I might try one myself |

I've been having disturbing, weird, unpleasant dreams, too. I believe that the frightening and isolated way we have to live right now is extremely disturbing to our unconscious minds. Hang in there...this will end

Well, ordinarily I love crime thrillers (and they never scare me because I chose carefully which ones I will watch) but I think, in general, I was just watching them more during this time because of social isolation. I have one YouTuber I follow and it's great going on there because all the fans post funny and thoughtful comments. Also, this YouTuber reached a million subscribers this week and everyone is celebrating. The fans are from all over the world so it is interesting to hear how all the different nationalities are doing. I should visit SoundCloud and other music sites...and play more music. I don't really have an appetite for silly or stupid. It doesn't hold my attention. I have plenty of hobbies and just need to redirect myself. A major problem has been news radio. I remember this happened during 9/11. People kept their televisions and radios on 24/7. At the time I had a very sensitive teenager in the house so I kept the television and radio off, and we practiced our music on piano and guitar, took hikes, walked our dog etc. I should probably just act like I have a sensitive teenager in the house. Some of the dreams are vivid but not negative. The dream I woke up to today was amazingly positive. I think maybe I will start keeping a dream log. A lot of messages are coming through the subconscious. __________________ Last edited by DechanDawa; Apr 06, 2020 at 02:59 PM.. |

Oh I hear you. I don’t normally like stupid either but right now I’d rather do that than the news. My dad had news on 24/7 and then he freaked about some reports and they aren’t even factual. He has been watching more you tube now, and not news, more like diy stuff or history or old movies and he is more upbeat now. I don’t have radio or tv on at all and just check news once a day. All of this is draining. Music sounds like a good idea!

Thanks for these comments. Our governor's talk on Monday (radio, YouTube) revealed our curve is flattening out. This is great news...and really all I need to know. Our gov wants us to really buckle down to the rules of social distancing. It looks like in my state we might avoid a big surge. The point is I could kind of lay off the news and FOMO. My son and I trade YouTube and Podcast recommendations. I have to confess that some of the YouTube videos we watch are kind of absurd. I have decided to lay off the crime thrillers for now. Too mentally stimulating. It's good your Dad switched gears. I did hear a report on the radio by some sleep expert that people are having more vivid dreams because they are getting more REMS from being able to sleep in. Possibly...but who knows if it is true. The radio is full of coronavirus related crap these days. __________________ |

Change can cause intense dreams. Live your life as you usually do. No need to fear so much. Anxiety affects our dreams.

THUNDER BOW!!! Ya' at' eeh! Good to hear from you. "No need to fear so much," Yes, that is right. I thought this very same thing today. I have been spiritually retreating today and at dusk will make it an official vision quest type retreat (my style). Not in the wilderness...but in the wild mind of lock down. Of course I cannot right now live my life as I usually do. This is a special time. A time of big change. But inside...here......we can all live as usual. Ahe' hee'! Take care and stay safe, my friend. __________________ |
