For several months now I've had vivid dreams. They're not always bad dreams, but wake me up a couple times a night. Some nights are worse then others. Sometimes I get hypnagogic (sound) hallucinations falling asleep too. I feel anxious at times and sometimes a low feeling mood. I've had several medical tests done and a mental health assessment. They recommended counseling for my anxiety and my health test results were normal. Anyone else having these vivid dreams?

I recently started on low dosages of Clonazepam as well as Trazadone for sleep after having been off psych meds for several years. Prior to starting these I seldom remembered my dreams. But since starting on these med's I've noticed I am having more vivid dreams & I'm remembering them more.
The other time in my life when I had vivid dreams was following some surgery I underwent quite a few years ago now. While I was in the hospital I had a morphine pump. And after I was back home, & off of the morphine, I had some very vivid dreams one of which involved being stung repeatedly by a swarm of bees... and, yes, I felt each & every sting! So for me, at least, vivid dreams seem to be related to medications I'm either taking or that I've stopped taking. __________________ "I may be older but I am not wise / I'm still a child's grown-up disguise / and I never can tell you what you want to know / You will find out as you go." This used to happen to me when I was more stressed out than usual. It is more common to have these hypnagogic sounds right before and just as you wake up from bed. What are some of your vivid dreams like? I notice when i would eat cheese or spicy foods my dreams unfold like a movie. Maybe you can do some yoga or breathing exercises though out the day and see if it helps lower you stress. Good luck.

May not be right place to post, but I've been having these since the Covid-19 lockdown started and I'm not alone.
A neighbour thought she'd got an intruder in the house and was trying to call out to another neighbour for help. Woke herself making funny noises in her throat, like stifled screams. She volunteered this when I mentioned my strange dreams. Haven't had any for about a week now, thankfully. Last one was odd. At hotel I'd stayed in about 15 years ago. Dressed in a fairy-type dress with lots of glitter. Being forced to crawl through a hole in a wall, I complained about scraping all the glitter off. Other family members (all female) have had similar experiences. Don't usually have such vivid dreams bordering on nightmares. |

Stress is part of life you just need to ride the wave for now. When my stress lowered I stopped getting sleep paralysis and hypagogic noises. I remember when this happened I thought I was losing my mind but after doing research it is more common than you think.
Pertaining to you dream the wearing masks and empty shopping center might be related to covid. You might be stressed out because of what is going on. It helps me to write down my feelings and fears so I am more consciously aware of it. |

So, it's now official, vivid dreams can be a side effect of the Covid lockdown. From the scientific stand point, it's to do with changes of routine and not having the usual socialising with friends and family. Am still having them, but not as frequently.
My mother is concerned. She's having dreams which include dead people. That includes my father (died 1960), her parents, aunts, uncles, second husband and his relatives, cousins and friends. Also includes people she didn't like; there are lots of those! She's just turned 85 so could be something to do with age or just the effects of lockdown. |

I have PTSD, and yes I have vivid dreams, both good and bad. I hear things too but I always remind myself if I wake up in the middle of the dream, it's not real. I always end up shutting my eyes again and telling myself that I'm okay. At first it terrified me but it's very normal to have vivid dreams, especially nightmares when your stressed out. Just get a check up with your doctor and tell them what your experiencing. And therapy can do wonders, so don't be scared or feel like you'll be judged, because I experience this all the time. I enjoy the good vivid dreams, but of course everyone does. I'm not scared of it once I bought a book about lucid dreaming. |

And they continue!
Two weeks ago, dreamt about a famous TV chef here in the UK. We were having a lovely time driving along country roads in an open top car. Never met him so don't know where this came from!! Last week's can't remember because it was bordering on a nightmare. Could be to do with article I was writing for a website. Research uncovered a lot of memories, mostly unhappy ones. so maybe related to that. |

I’ve had vivid dreams all my life. After I took a class in jung and our professor required a dream diary I learned how cool they are and embraced them. The last couple of months tho they are gone and I really miss them.

I've always had extremely vivid dreams. Lately I've been having the hynogogic stuff going on, in other words, it feels like I'm dreaming before I fall asleep, which causes me to fully awaken.

I rarely have hypnagogic stuff going on, but I often have vivid dreams. This morning’s dreams felt almost real.

I also have hypnagogic hallucinations and up too 7 extremely detailed dreams a night. I also experience double awakenings, accidental astral projection and lucid dreaming. It all comes hand in hand with my narcolepsy diagnosis though.
