Dear Anyone.

Could tell you LOADS of adventures I have there but you don't want a book here, so I thought I'd just tell you about my world in general.

It's loads closer to the centre of the galaxy than this one - there's so many stars in the sky that night-time is, in an odd way, almost as bright as day. It's a massive world, bigger than Jupiter, and it orbits a gas-giant sun. Because the sun's so hot the world's MUCH farther out than Earth from its primary, its sun's less than a dot in the sky yet days there are as bright as Earth days at least. I've got two guides there, they're just there for me and sadly they dictate what knowledge I can bring back from the world - it's not so much forgetting the dreams as feeling them taken from me.

But I've studied at a lovely College there, in a huge, old, rambling mansion. Of course there's many aliens there, including one of the teachers, who literally emits sparks from her fur when she gets wound up - which is often, by us! The Principal is a lovely old lady who loves wearing gold, and sits in an office full of books with a holographic fire to give it the oldey-worldey atmosphere she loves. There's a beach nearby where the water's so clear you can see the sea-life as though it's suspended in glass. Some of it has great, barbed teeth and long, transparent bodies, others are mini islands of flesh with no obvious heads that just 'absorb' other fish into themselves when they feed.

There's a spaceport, where ships dock against massive tubes so the tubes can be filled with the atmosphere those on board the ships can breathe. Once they've passed through scan-checks, they're given exosuits. Skin-tight 'plastic' coverings that only filter through the gases they can breathe. Some still have to wear breathing tanks, for our atmosphere doesn't have what they need.

The cities have mobile walkways. They're concentric, those nearer the shops moving a lot slower than those towards the outside. I love going into the shops, though lots of them sell stuff my species can't use. One sells peace. It's owned by a glowing, flat-winged creature who's wings sing when she waves them and its their song that gives you peace. She likes me and never charges me.

I think I'm a kind of experiment there. When I first went there, it was kinesthesia central - all my senses were confused. They've got it right, now, I can move and touch and use things just like everyday. That's how I know when I'm there and it's not just an ordinary dream. But I'm not allowed to bring too much of the knowledge back with me.

I've been in 'grown' houses - the last one was a massive, hollow tree where a lovely creature lived and welcomed me, he played a synth which sang the wind and brought the local fauna out to listen. There's a mighty volcano that holds a whole city, using its geothermic energy so it can't erupt. There's pleasure-cruisers, crossing the huge oceans to islands large as continents, I've been on one. And once I met a space-captain who'd saved a ship filled with travellers but at the cost of being totally burned and body-scarred. He was a hero for what he'd done and I got to talk to him in a bar there.

I even got to go in a spaceship there once. A little, private one, being tested after being repaired. I sat with the others around the central well and we sang as we watched the stars speed past through the glassite dome at its base. It was only being tested, so the flight didn't last long but I loved it, though I don't know how come I got to be on it.

Nowadays, before I go to sleep, I wonder if I'll go home there because I think of there as my home. I'm disabled and this world never has been a home to me. Sometimes I cry when I feel myself leaving there and my Guides hug me to reassure me that I'll go back there again.

Maybe one day I'll be lucky enough to stay there and not have to return.

Yours respectfully

Chris.

Dear Chris,

That is very interesting. I also have a world I repeatedly return to when I dream although it is not as interesting as yours. It is good to know that I am not the only person who experiences this. Thanks so much for sharing this!

Sincerely yours, Yao Wen

I'd love to hear about yours, though, Yao. If you feel like sharing about it, you'll have one avid listener anyway.

Would it be OK to post about my time on board one of the pleasure cruisers there - don't worry, it's nothing 'bad', it wasn't that kind of experience! But it was genuine fun, though, and might make you smile.

Yours respectfully

Chris.

You have a lot going on inside yourself. That world is you, and is what is going on inside of you.
