i have had insomnia on and off for years. i have tried acupressure, herbal tinctures, journaling, meditating, but nothing really helped consistently.
since my insomnia is usually from worrying, i felt what i needed was to be comforted, so when i can't fall asleep, i just use my hand to soothe myself, especially on areas that have bare skin exposed. i stroke my bare arms, hands, forehead, sides of my face, neck. this has worked for me. just thought i'd share. |

I bought a $10 body pillow from Target and I use a spray bottle to mist my face and neck at night when my anxiety level starts to ramp up. Sleeping with the body pillow has been amazing for my anxiety at night. I tried a weighted blanket but that just suffocated me...because it's weighted. I highly recommend sleeping with multiple pillows or a body pillow. I also will take a bath about 2 hours before I want to go to bed which has helped calm me down too. Thanks for starting this thread. We can all learn from each other.

dear motts, tx for the tip about the body pillow. i had never even heard of that before. i guess it's like with cats, they love to snuggle, it makes them feel safe.
dear raging vortex, maybe motts' suggestion will help you? sweet dreams |

Always had problems with insomnia here.
I sleep much better at night when I get up in the morning and caffeinate. Heavily. It keeps me awake during the day and for some reason I sleep much better. |

Last night we had a terrible thunderstorm with hail. Had it not been for my body pillow and window a/c I wouldn't have been able to sleep. While the a/c window unit was loud, I still dreamt so that means I was able to actually sleep.

i will definitely try either more pillows or the body pillow. i have to find a consistent way to get some sleep as my insomnia was affecting my work.
