I've been feeling so lonely this past little while...haven't spoken to my friends in weeks, since I've always been the one to reach out to them first and I got tired of it. Nobody takes any initiative to see me, and it's been like that with pretty much every friend. It's so irritating. But I really can't decide if I prefer to be alone or if I want more friends. Sometimes I think about joining a club when school starts up to meet new people, but then I think "what's the point?" Apparently real friends don't exist, so why bother? I've always been invisible in new groups anyway. Maybe it's better to stay alone without anyone, it's easier. I'm also very anxious and insecure when meeting new people so I don't know if it would go well. I can't decide what I want...

in my personal experience, people just bring drama. give it a day or 2 and they'll drag you in to their lives and make you a part of their drama (that or not accept you for who you are, take something you say too persoanlly, what ever)

I've only really had 1 real friend in my life, and she ended up not interested in being friends with me because we have diffrent religious beliefs.

being around people is stressfull, it is good sometimes because too much alone time is never great, (I love being alone, but I couldn't do it 24/7 365 days a year)

but those are my thoughts

Being alone all the time is not the answer. Sometimes it's good but not all the time. Just because.you have to chase friends all the time doesn't mean they don't like you, people have their own stuff going on and aren't always thinking about you but that doesn't mean they're not good friends, they're just crap at keeping in touch. I myself am one of those people. I've lost all of my friends, but I 'm not lonely, I have a young family and that is all I need right now. When my family have grown up I will reconnect with old friends and make new ones.

It will take alot of effort on my part but nothing good in life comes easy, if you want to have friends to be around it is going to take effort on your part, I know it's irritating but that's life. If you want something you have to go out and get it, it won't just arrive at your door step.

It sounds to me like you have an choice to make. Put in the effort it is going to take to stay connected with old friends. Put in the effort to make new ones or carry on as you are, doing nothing and accept the way things are.

I am finding working with animals is especially healing. An owner and human to an 11-yr old furry friend has been more than rewarding but working with other animals and other owners has been beneficial to me also. Making connections with others is an important part of life.

You feel frustrated that you can't have engagement with others. You try so hard with little reward. It sounds like negative reinforcement.

If you want your old friends back, then it may be wise to have a discussion on how you feel. And be clear on what you want. I find writing to be helpful in understanding what I want. Maybe you will be the same.

I am mostly alone but have a job where I interact with people so don't feel lonely. I like being alone for the most part. I have my own space and freedom to do what I like. I am happy!
