i have this song on my MP3 player, and i listen to it to connect with the feelings i am experiencing. it is intensely painful, and if you study the lyrics closely, and if you have sufferred abuse (of any type, ie sexual, phyiscal, verbal etc) you will connect with it too, if you allow yourself.

she makes references to her father, who is the abuser and the fact he used to beat her mum, and sometimes her personally. all you need to do is adjust the names to match your circumstance, for me its my brother who sexually abused me, so where she says father, i add brother...see what i mean, give it a try with the person who abused you.

i am talking of a song named IM OK and its written and sung by Christina Aguilera. it is not her normal style of music, it is a power ballad and is powerful. even if you dislike her normal stuff, give it a chance. i think i could help you.

go to http://www.esnips.com/web/Simonwatts87sOtherStuff and select the song named IM OK and let me know what you think.

hope it touches your heart like it did mine.

I have added a poll to this post too, so after you have listened to the track, let me know your feelings on it. whether it helped you realise a feeling, or touched upon current feelings, and whether you connected with it.

I just saw her on MTV perform this song dedicated to her mother. She couldn't start singing right away because she was crying. I tried to find a clip but came up empty handed. It's from her new CD "Back To Basics"

Both songs--very powerful.

"Oh Mother"

Whoa, oh, yeah,

She was so young with such innocent eyes
She always dreamt of a fairytale life
And all the things your money can't buy
She thought daddy was a wonderful guy

Then suddenly, things seemed to change
It was the moment she took on his name
He took his anger out on her face
She kept all of her pain locked away

Oh mother, we're stronger
From all of the tears you have shed

Oh mother, don't look back
Cause he'll never hurt us again

So mother, I thank you
For all you've done and still do

You got me, I got you
Together we always pull through

We always pull through
We always pull through
Oh mother, oh mother, oh mother

It was the day that he turned on his kids
That she knew she just had to leave him

So many voices inside of her head
Saying over and over and over,

"You deserve much more than this."

She was so sick of believing the lies and trying to hide
Covering the cuts and bruises (cuts and bruises)

So tired of defending her life, she could have died
Fighting for the lives of her children

Oh mother, we're stronger
From all of the tears you have shed (all of the tears you have shed)

Oh mother, don't look back
Cause he'll never hurt us again (he'll never hurt us again)

So mother, I thank you (thank you)
For all that you've done and still do (still do)

You got me, I got you, (yeah you got me and I got you)
Together we always pull through.
We always pull through
We always pull through
Oh mother, oh mother, oh mother

All of your life you have spent
Burying hurt and regret
But mama, he'll never touch us again

For everytime he tried to break you down
Just remember who's still around

It's over, and we're stronger
And we'll never have to go back again

Oh mother, we're stronger
From all of the tears you have shed
Oh mother, don't look back (oh mother don't look back again)
Cause he'll never hurt us again (cause he'll never hurt us again)

So mother, I thank you (and I thank you for everything you've done)
For all that you've done and still do (together we always move on)
You got me, I got you, (you got me, I got you)
Together we always pull through (always pull through)
We always pull through
We always pull through

I love you mom

Not sure if this is the type stuff you're looking for in music, but the lyrics are incredible.

Rhapsody, i dont have an answer for that, sorry. i dont know how else you can listen to it without buying it or borrowing it from someone. do you know anyone with the STRIPPED album from Christina? or try downloading it from iTunes etc. apart from this, i dont know how to bypass this. maybe someone else will know.

I couldn't get it to work either so I stopped at my local library and they had a copy on loan from one of their library branches. so maybe your library has one you can borrow.
