aka "leech" aka control-relationship in which someone wants to keep a leash on you.

This article helped me out a lot because I saw many signs from my own past abusive family-relationship. I hope to catch these signs early next time and I hope this helps someone too :

This is my mother to a T... Some of the language threw me off a bit because of "partner" but it's definitely my mother. I've known for a while that she is controlling and emotionally abusive toward me, but I have never heard the term parasitic. It makes sense though. I always feel drained when I have to deal with her even for a short time. I never get thank you's or please's for anything. It's like she can't do anything for herself when I'm around.

I've noticed many articles on abuse are written for romantic relationships, but the concepts apply to various relationships (family, friendships, professional, etc.)
